The Complex Care Medical-Surgical Unit (6800) is a 39-bed acute medical telemetry unit caring for a wide range of patients, including those with medical-surgical needs, orthopedic overflow, and ED holds. The unit supports both medically complex patients and those preparing for safe discharge. This unit is a great fit for nurses who thrive in fast-paced, high-acuity settings that require strong clinical judgment and collaboration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides high-quality, patient-centered, clinical care
Performs initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, utilizing appropriate data (i.e. physical, psychological, educational and risk-screen data appropriate for the chronological / developmental age of the patient).
Communicates and documents assessment of patient with the interdisciplinary team. Utilizes all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family.
Develops and documents plan of care, treatment and services which is individualized and appropriate for the patient needs, strengths, limitations and goals.
Complies with organizational policies, procedures and protocols including policies governing safety, medication administration and documentation.
Revises plan of care based on ongoing evaluations and updates documentation appropriately.
Completes at least one clinical research utilization (CRU) form for submission to Nursing Research Department utilizing a research article from the last 5 years from research performed in the United States.
COMPLIANCE:
Completes a minimum of 5 nationally approved contact hours (CNE or CEU) per year.
Completes mandatory in-services and health screens in timely manner.
Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing
Registered Nurse license in New York State.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
At least 6 months RN experience preferred

The Wound Healing Registered Professional Nurse is responsible and accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process. OUR UNIT:
4400 is an 18 bed, Oncology/Palliative Care unit. The unit cares for oncology, palliative care, and hospice patients. The nurses are required to become chemotherapy certified through Oncology Nursing Society (a nationally recognized certification). RRH reimburses or pays for this certification for our team members. Staff are also trained to use and care for patients on CADD pumps, used for patients who require high doses and increased frequencies of pain medication. These are seen for a variety of reasons but are commonly seen with sickle cell and comfort care patients. 4400 has achieved the AACN GOLD Beacon award for excellence. 4400 is also a DNV Palliative Care Certified unit.
The nursing staff specialize in compassionate patient-centered care with a focus on quality-of-life interventions. 4400 is accredited by the American Board of Surgeons, giving nurses many opportunities to make a difference by offering physical & psycho-social care for patients & their families. Nursing staff are responsible for assessing patients, passing medications, and following provider orders for patient specific tasks. We provide multidisciplinary support with daily care team rounding and geographically assigned teams.
