Your responsibilities will include: Overseeing all aspects of assigned patients, from providing high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter surgeries to additional surgical procedures and dentistry. Knowledge of shelter medicine principles to contribute to rescue animals' medical care and diagnosis. Physical examination, pre and post-operative care, anesthetic protocols, patient monitoring, and emergency response. Qualifications: Joining our dynamic team requires the following: DVM Degree with an active veterinary license in the State of Minnesota. Ability to perform high-quality, high-volume spay-neuter surgeries; candidates with at least two years of anesthetic and surgical experience. Demonstrated knowledge of shelter medicine. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe and sterile environment. Don and Doff appropriate personal protective equipment including gloves, masks, surgical bouffant, gown, tyvek suit, and shoe covers. Maintain Cleanliness in Non-Sterile Environments (40%) Reduce the spread of pathogens and microbial life in non-sterile spaces such as anesthesia prep, ICU, PACU, out-patient surgery, oral surgery (dentistry), interventional radiology, and other locations where procedures may take place. This includes facilitating routine cleaning, wiping down surfaces, emptying trashes and laundry receptacles along with regular deep cleaning of procedure spaces and PACU on a monthly basis and ICU on a quarterly basis Referring and educating on current SOP's and policies around cleanliness and infection control Clean kennels, remove garbage, replace linen bags, and restock cleaning and disinfection supplies as needed. About the Department The Veterinary Medical Center (VMC) has served the community for more than a century. It is the most advanced, full-service referral care center for large and small animals in Minnesota. The position plays a key role in the safe, clean, and welcoming environment of the facility for all patrons and staff while upholding high customer service standards and pursuing operational excellence. This position requires a mix of creativity, analytical thinking, and effective communication to succeed in a fast-paced environment. It offers a fantastic opportunity to combine a passion for sports, event execution, and personnel/facility management with skills in ice rink operations, managing/training staff, customer service, and facility operations. The Ice Technician will work with the Operations Manager and Supervisor to develop facility policies, staff scheduling plans, provide feedback on facility use schedules (which includes intercollegiate athletics, youth ice hockey, public skating, various external events, etc.), develop and execute equipment maintenance schedules, and play a key role with the overall operating plan of the Lee and Penny Anderson Arena.
