Job Description The components of the role include clinical practice, consultation, professional development, program building, education and research in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Schedule: * 10 hr days * includes one Saturday shift per month Licenses and Certifications: * Current NJ State license, Registered Professional Nurse * Masters degree in Nursing or completion of Masters in Physician Assistant Studies * Current NJ State license, Advance Practice Nurse (and NP certification) or Physician Assistant, * CDS and DEA * ACLS and PALS certification through the American Heart Association * Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Certification, peds acute care preferred Experience: * Preferred: Three to five years of pediatric experience as an NP or PA Essential Functions * The Pediatric Surgical APP provides care and management for patients on the pediatric surgical service in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team with an increased level of accountability, coordinates care for complex, medically fragile patients. * A wide degree of patient care autonomy/latitude is expected. * Outpatient/Clinic responsibilities will also be included within the scope, including complex wound care, post-op follow up, history and physical exam, and surgical consultation. * Independence with some invasive procedures required-training will be provided. * The Pediatric Surgical APP also serves as clinical leader and educator for both medical and nursing staff, providing mentorship for both in-house resident physicians and RNs. * Primary location will be in New Brunswick and outpatient offices nearby. * Extended coverage to additional hospitals and outpatient clinical sites within the RWJBarnabas Health System will be determined at the discretion of the Medical Director of Pediatric Surgery.
