S.S. White company history timeline

1844

S.S. White Technologies, Inc. started life in Philadelphia some 162 years ago as a tooth factory founded by Doctor Samuel Stockton White in 1844 with a work force of three.

1901

Prior to joining the company the youthful athlete had visited Paris in 1901 with his wife Vera.

1911

In 1911 S.S. White was the first company to design a speedometer cable for Ford.

1915

In 1915, S.S. White Flexible Shafts replaced drive links in automobile speedometers.

1931

In 1931, the company published the industry's first Flexible Shaft hand-book which quickly became 'The Source' for all engineers interested in rotary motion.

1937

In 1937, it established a vast manufacturing plant in Staten Island, NY.

1940

In the late 1940’s our engineers developed the first Micro-Blasters.

1941

In 1941, S.S. White designed sophisticated Flexible Shaft assemblies for aircrafts of the United States military during WW II.

1950

The initial Micro-Blaster was demonstrated and a patent was issued in 1950.

By 1950, S.S. White had become the largest employer in Staten Island, NY.

1968

In 1968, the Pennwalt Corporation, a Fortune 200 company, acquired S.S. White.

1973

In 1973, a bright young engineer, Rahul Shukla, joined the company.

1988

Under the leadership of our President/CEO Rahul Shukla, this company has been profitable every single quarter, of every single year for since 1988.
