    MAJOR FUNCTIONS: Under general supervision, is responsible for transporting staff, clients, and supplies in a safe and orderly fashion by agency vehicle to appointments, other agency sites, etc. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Transports clients in agency vehicle to other program sites, recreational outings, appointments, public transportation, out in community, etc. Picks up and delivers supplies from vendors, other sites, etc. as needed. Transports staff to other sites as needed. Observes all traffic and vehicle operation laws towards to ensure safe and legal operation of agency vehicles. Maintains and updates Vehicle Trip Logs on a daily basis. Follows agency vehicle emergency procedures in case of an accident. Inspects vehicles prior to use in order following agency vehicle checklist to ensure that they are maintained in a safe and efficient operating condition. Demonstrates a professional standard of conduct in representing agency out in community. Drives to and from agency sites to pick up items i.e. mail as requested. Reinforces agency policy in using vehicle safety/seat belts. Maintains vehicle by ensuring regular preventive maintenance work is performed. Ensures that vehicle is cleaned and fueled on a regular basis. Performs other duties as requested. REQUIREMENTS: Required Education, Experience and Skills: High School Graduate or GED. Must have at least Five years prior driving experience, preferably with 15 passenger transportation vehicles. Willingness to transport clients as needed. Clean NYS Driver's License. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. License/Certification Required: Valid New York State Driver's License Preferred Education, License/Certification, Experience and/or Skills: Knowledge of DHS regulations and systems (CARES} a plus. Good interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and staff Must be able to pass appropriate driving background check in LENS Knowledge of techniques for identifying and preventing potentially violent behavior, including crisis management techniques. Knowledge of Clients Rights and Code of Conduct in NYC Shelter Systems.

About Your Work Day Follows assigned on-grounds route to pick up and drop off guests on a tram.  Maintains the safety of guests while operating the tram. Ensures the tram is clean and presentable. Position Summary: The Driver will drive and maintain a vehicle used to deliver meals for community members who are in need of food assistance. The Isaacs Center has partnered with Dandelion Food Shed to receive 1000 pounds of fresh produce each week from Hepworth Farm, located in Milton, NY, to the Isaacs Center. The driver will be responsible for picking up the produce order and delivering it to the center at the beginning of each shift. Pay: $21.19 an hour-approx. $42,000 annual. FSLA: Non-exempt. Eligible for overtime. Schedule: 10am-6pm Monday-Friday. Location: Gowanus/Park Slope, Brooklyn NY. JOB-RELATED DUTIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These duties are essential and specific to the successful implementation of this position. Transports customers to various locations specified on Transportation Request with Agency van. Schedules daily routes, prioritizing trips to HRA, Department of Labor, transfers to/from other shelters and housing appointments for customers. Maintains van in pristine condition, ensuring cleanliness inside and out. Monitors and schedules routine maintenance of van (inspections, oil changes, tire rotation, etc.) Reviews transportation requests with respective Supervisor. Maintains accurate documentation of runs, logging mileage and destinations. Adheres to proper use of company resources (cell phones, office supplies, vehicles, etc.). Must be able to multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to details. Does not fraternize with customers; maintains a professional boundary. Drives within posted speed limits and ensures that all passengers wear required safety belts. Does not use cell phone or substances while driving. Qualifications What do I need to apply? Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED required. 3+ years of experience as a Driver (especially in a social service setting) can override the education requirement. Certificates or Licenses: Valid NYS driver's license and clean driving record. Communication: Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus. Reasoning Ability: make judgment calls, perform proper notifications, and make appropriate decisions. Other Skills: Ability to relate to the underserved, homeless, and disabled populations. Work independently or as part of a team, be organized, assume responsibility, work well under pressure, be flexible, and must be even-tempered.
