The Role
Under the general direction of the Program Director or Designee, the Housing Specialist is responsible for identifying permanent housing for program participants. The Housing Specialist will also be responsible for conducting housing assessments to determine participants' housing readiness, family composition, and other housing needs. Position will provide comprehensive case management, will assist clients in the completion of applications for housing and rental subsidy programs, and conduct housing counseling.
Responsibilities

Coordinates development and maintains linkages with reliable landlords, brokers, and realty agencies.
Maintains an updated database of available resources.
Guides clients and staff as it relates to housing-related issues.
Assists residents in seeking safe, permanent, and affordable housing.
Coordinates with case managers on client cases.
Inspects apartments to ensure they comply with city, state, and local standards.
Interviews candidates to ensure income, family size, etc., and are suitable for placement.
Identifies barriers to housing (i.e.: language, substance abuse, appearance, etc.).
Advocates on participants' behalf to obtain and/or maintain housing subsidies (Advantage NYC, Section 8, FEPS, etc.).
Maintains tracking forms for placements; provides accurate reports promptly.
Assists Case Managers in developing appropriate housing plans.
Assists in facilitating OOR processes (registration, inspection, linkage, etc.).
Assists in the reconciliation of placements; verifies non-advantage placements and completes appropriate documentation.
Qualifications
Who You Will Be
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Six Months to One Year of comparable housing or real estate experience working with the NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS) or other similar city-operated organizations.
Willingness to participate in CPR and First Aid training.
Willingness to travel in the community to view available apartments with program participants.
Available to work a flexible schedule as needed in response to participant and staff needs.
Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The Hotlines' Client Advocate Specialist fields calls to Safe Horizon's three 24-hour Hotlines: the Domestic Violence Hotline, the Crime Victims Hotline and the Rape and Incest Hotline. These hotlines provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and information and referrals to over 125,000 victims each year. The Client Advocate Specialist conducts thorough safety and needs assessments, and collaborates with callers to develop plans address needs within a supportive, client-centered framework.
Responsibilities:
Learn and integrate a trauma-informed, client-centered approach, using an anti-oppressive lens, into your work with clients.
Engage clients contacting the Domestic Violence, Crime Victims and Rape and Sexual Assault Hotlines telephonically and via the TDD machine, a device for the hearing impaired
Conduct thorough assessments for all callers, with a particular focus on ascertaining the safety of clients and their children.
Identify and follow up on cues signaling potential exposure to risks to safety for clients and their children.
When indicated, provide crisis intervention to address threats to a caller's physical and/or emotional safety. Coordinate such interventions with immediate supervisor, as needed.
Safety plan with callers with identified safety risks.
Per New York state mandate, report incidents of suspected child abuse or maltreatment/neglect to the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment.
Conduct shelter assessments for domestic violence and rape/sexual assault victims seeking shelter and provide advocacy for them to access available shelter space
Assess callers' needs and provide appropriate information and referrals to address them.
Interface with web-based case management system and other technologies to conduct and document work.
Participate in agency sponsored and external trainings on victimization issues
Maintain cooperative working relationships with Safe Horizon programs and other NYC service providers.

Provides individual and group counseling regarding housing issues to help residents meet the goals of the service and comprehensive treatment plans.

Purpose of the Position
The role of the Clinical Support Specialist within the social service team is to provide recovery-focused services to women in transitional housing and assist with ensuring the appropriate level of care is identified when connecting to permanent housing. The individual in this position works closely with social service staff in a collaborative approach to manage client needs and ensure the effective delivery of services to the clients at Win West.
Responsibilities
Assist with initial intake process in partnership with the security staff using evidence-based practices (EBP), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma-Informed Care (TIC), critical time intervention, and boundary setting to help clients achieve their goals.
Assist with initial intake process in partnership with other team members.
Triage client(s) for immediate needs and services.
Conduct recovery assessments for all clients to determine need.
Provide emergency and crisis service intervention such as connecting to detox and rehabilitation services in the community.
Develop action plans with clients and modify interventions as needed.
Perform timely and accurate data input of required client information in Department of Homeless Services (DHS) database.
Support clients in identifying steps towards housing readiness and assist with transitioning to permanent housing.
Conduct weekly group sessions focused on recovery and wellness.
Provide individual counseling for clients diagnosed with recovery needs and connect to treatment services in the community.
Establish advocacy networks with community resources.
Actively participate as a member of the shelter's multi-disciplinary team.
Attend transitional housing meetings, organization-wide meetings, and staff training, as required. Prepare all mandated reporting as required by supervisor, contract agencies, and Win.
Discuss strategies with the multi-disciplinary team to address treatment plans, challenges, and crisis intervention.
Collaborate with community-based service providers to ensure engagement in services.
Additional Responsibilities:
Provide client support through escorting, group facilitation, and assistance with Biopsychosocial (BPS).
Conduct diagnostic assessments for all clients to determine service needs.
Support crisis intervention efforts as needed.
Co-facilitate staff clinical meetings and work closely with clients through groups and workshops.
Help establish and maintain an extensive referral network or Community-Based Organization (CBO) list.
Assess the needs of the individual and/or family by completing a psychosocial assessment.
Engage clients in educational groups and workshops.

Purpose of the Position
The role of the Clinical Support Specialist within the social service team is to provide recovery-focused services to women in transitional housing and assist with ensuring the appropriate level of care is identified when connecting to permanent housing. Responsibilities
Assist with initial intake process in partnership with the security staff using evidence-based practices (EBP), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma-Informed Care (TIC), critical time intervention, and boundary setting to help clients achieve their goals.
Assist with initial intake process in partnership with other team members.
Triage client(s) for immediate needs and services.
Conduct recovery assessments for all clients to determine need.
Provide emergency and crisis service intervention such as connecting to detox and rehabilitation services in the community.
Develop action plans with clients and modify interventions as needed.
Perform timely and accurate data input of required client information in Department of Homeless Services (DHS) database.
Support clients in identifying steps towards housing readiness and assist with transitioning to permanent housing.
Conduct weekly group sessions focused on recovery and wellness.
Provide individual counseling for clients diagnosed with recovery needs and connect to treatment services in the community.
Establish advocacy networks with community resources.
Actively participate as a member of the shelter's multi-disciplinary team.
Attend transitional housing meetings, organization-wide meetings, and staff training, as required. Prepare all mandated reporting as required by supervisor, contract agencies, and Win.
Discuss strategies with the multi-disciplinary team to address treatment plans, challenges, and crisis intervention.
Collaborate with community-based service providers to ensure engagement in services.
Additional Responsibilities:
Provide client support through escorting, group facilitation, and assistance with Biopsychosocial (BPS).
Conduct diagnostic assessments for all clients to determine service needs.
Support crisis intervention efforts as needed.
Co-facilitate staff clinical meetings and work closely with clients through groups and workshops.
Help establish and maintain an extensive referral network or Community-Based Organization (CBO) list.
Assess the needs of the individual and/or family by completing a psychosocial assessment.

Income Building Specialist
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Manager, Income Building and Director, Income Building

Purpose of the Position
The Income Building Specialist (IBS) is responsible for providing employment services, ranging from job preparation to retention, for Win clients. In collaboration with local job training and placement agencies, this individual will partner with clients to obtain competitive employment opportunities in New York City. The Income Building Specialist will promote and provide resources to meet clients' educational and financial objectives.
Responsibilities:
Provide individualized employment assistance to clients, including interviewing techniques, résumé writing, job applications, and other employment services.
Develop and maintain relationships with potential and existing employers.
Assist clients in exploring employment opportunities to secure and maintain gainful employment.
Collaborate in the planning and execution of special events including job fairs organized by Win.
Refer clients to training programs based on client's goals and experience.
Ensure linkages with the New York State Department of Education, vocational training, and educational programs for Win clients.
Access clients' educational goals (i.e. obtaining High School Equivalency Diploma or College Diploma)
Recruit clients for on-site Computer Skills and Job Readiness Training Program.
Provide one-on-one and group financial literacy sessions and wealth creation workshops to promote financial independence.
Document all client work in confidential electronic record.
Commit to using evidence-based practices (EBP), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma Informed Care (TIC), family-centered case management, and boundary setting.
Attend shelter meetings, agency-wide meetings, and staff training (on site and off site) as directed by the manager.
Collaborate with all transitional housing departments, including Case Managers, Client Care Coordinators, and Housing Coordinators to ensure that income building goals, metrics, and best practices are met.
Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Must be able to ascend/descend stairs in the assigned building.
Must be able to escort clients to appointments and events using public transportation.
Qualifications:
Commitment to Win's mission, vision, and values.
BA/BS required plus two (2) years of successful practical experience in job placement and career coaching with adults.
Previous experience working in a social services setting focusing on with homeless families a plus.
Demonstrated ability to partner with potential employers and individuals to develop appropriate services for adult clients.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency Microsoft Suite.
Bilingual- English/Spanish a plus.
