What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a R&D MechanicalEngineer to provide design-engineering support during the full life cycle of surety component development, production, and ongoing surveillance assessment of stockpile devices. These surety components play a critical role in assuring the safety and security of the nation's nuclear deterrent in a wide range of environments including severe accident scenarios. You will work on mechanism components with complex mechanical interactions in assemblies of over 100 custom designed/built piece parts.
As an engineer in the Nuclear Deterrence (ND) mechanisms family, you will touch all aspects of product development from conceptual design and analysis to system retirement. We have a diverse team with wide ranges of skills and experience, and we value critical thinking skills and good mechanical insight. This position is a great opportunity for an early career engineer to forge relationships across the Nuclear Security Enterprise, and make lasting contributions to the safety of our nation's nuclear stockpile.
On any given day, you would be expected to:
Develop and down-select design concepts
Negotiate functional and interface requirements with the next assembly customer
Analyze designs to determine suitability of concepts and changes
Lead generation and revisions of product design definition drawings using GD&T
Develop and refine new designs through iterative design-build-test cycles
Lead the assembly of prototype and developmental hardware
Negotiate product manufacturing requirements with the production agency
Participate in production agency led vendor development and evaluation activities
Review inspection results to verify product compliance with requirements
Disposition product non-conformances based on design analysis and subject matter expert review
Develop and execute test plans to validate designs
Create test specifications and procedures for product acceptance and surveillance
Develop and execute qualification plans to ensure product quality and compliance with requirements throughout production
Investigate anomalies and resolve through analysis and test based methods
Evaluate data from component and systems level tests to assess the ability of devices to continue to meet requirements in fielded systems
Present designs, tests results, and findings to peers, customers, and management in formal and informal settings
Document work in formal reports and memos
Lead or support the generation and maintenance of project schedule and financial plans using methods including Earned Value Management
Some travel is required.

Salary Range
$99,400 - $193,600

The Advanced RF ICs and Microsystems department (5255) seeks an R&D Microwave and Sensor Engineer to design, fabricate, test, qualify, and deliver custom-designed microwave components. These components enable military communication systems, SAR imaging, doppler radar, and tagging, tracking, and locating hardware. Our team seeks a driven RF engineer capable of fundamental electromagnetic modeling, transistor-level circuit simulation, and distributed element microwave PCB design. It is also important for the candidate to understand electronic die characterization, RF test equipment, solder assembly, PCB development, and fabrication.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Use circuit modeling tools to design analog or RF integrated circuit components for transceivers.
Use circuit and electromagnetic modeling tools to design high sensitivity radio frequency components.
Run Monte Carlo simulations over voltage, temperature, and process corners
Model active circuit components: AC, Transient, Harmonic Balance, EM
Characterize RF components and modules over extreme environmental stresses.
Troubleshoot analog or RF circuits in a modern, well-equipped electronics lab

We are seeking a computer engineer or computer scientist to participate in the development of embedded software and test software for advanced RF systems used in current and future national security applications. The selected candidate will demonstrate the ability to work in a dynamic team environment, sharing resources as well as programmatic responsibilities across the group.
This position's primary focus will be the development of embedded software for specialized RF communication systems. It is crucial to have an interest in mixed-signal (RF, analog, digital) electrical designs, which enable the control, optimization, and troubleshooting of these special communication systems.

About Our Team
The High Reliability Special Communications Department (5372) develops terrestrial, airborne, and space-based special communications systems for use in surveillance, reconnaissance, and high-value target and material controls. Our customers include a variety of government organizations conducting special operations missions. Staff members possess a diverse skill set, including microwave circuit design, antenna design, signal analysis, digital signal processing, embedded software, and digital FPGA designs. Within this job, successful candidates will have to opportunity to support the Laboratory's mission by serving as the subject matter expert for nuclear facility electrical, mechanical, and structural engineering matters, including all aspects of electrical safety, HVAC, power quality, fluid/utility systems, power monitoring, critical power reliability/redundancy issues, renovating rooms, modifying buildings and structural members, and developing new structures within and around the plutonium facility. Responsibilities Peraton has an opening for a Spacecraft ACS Team Lead at the White Sands Complex in Las Cruces, NM. The Spacecraft ACS Team Lead will join a team of engineers dedicated to ensuring the health, safety of the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite (TDRS) fleet through evaluation and assessment of spacecraft telemetry. The Spacecraft ACS Team assists with planning and execution of spacecraft orbit management, momentum management, subsystem assessments and telemetry monitoring, and other activities required to support unmanned and human space flight mission success.
Peraton is the prime contractor for NASA at the White Sands Complex (WSC) near Las Cruces, New Mexico. Operating here are two functionally identical satellite ground terminals: The White Sands Ground Terminal, and the Second TDRSS Ground Terminal. These ground terminals ensure uninterrupted communications between various ground stations, NASA's orbiting geosynchronous fleet of Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS), customer spacecraft, and the computer systems that support such spacecraft. WSC serves as an interface for distributing satellite data to control centers and scientists who then use the daily influx of data to expand our ever-growing knowledge of the Earth and the universe.
This position will be responsible for the following:
* Lead a team of direct reports to complete project requirements and allocate tasking for spacecraft engineers.
* Perform daily monitoring and trending of TDRS spacecraft state-of-health data.
* Develop, maintain, and validate procedures for performing spacecraft activities, including station-keeping, momentum management, spacecraft relocations, and anomaly recovery.
* Perform spacecraft End-of-Mission planning, simulations, execution, and documentation.
* Responsible for the technical integrity of projects and operations while providing technical guidance to department staff and project levels.
* Work closely with resources to create test plans and ensure that issues are properly assigned and resolved.
* Provide accurate, articulate, quick turnaround notifications and status updates for anomalies.
* Analyze and identify spacecraft system anomaly root causes. Coordinate team planning and execution of recovery actions.
* Assist in developing and maintaining checklists and training material for spacecraft engineers.

Qualifications
Required Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, MechanicalEngineering, Physics or related field and 6+ years of relative experience.

* Occasional travel to other sites may be required.
* Security clearance - this position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance and to maintain the clearance thereafter. In order to obtain a clearance, you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship. An Interim Secret is acceptable to start.
Desired Experience:
* Active Secret security clearance.
* Previous experience associated with TDRS operations is highly desired.

Target Salary Range
$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
