    Learning Strategist / Instructional Designer for Medical Office Onboarding Creation Our client is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer / Onboarding Consultant to design a cohesive, scalable 90-day standardized onboarding program for a rapidly growing healthcare organization with over 100 offices nationwide. Currently, onboarding varies significantly by location and relies heavily on informal, manager-led training and shadowing. This initiative aims to modernize and standardize onboarding to ensure consistent employee readiness, role proficiency, and a high-quality new-hire experience across all offices. The consultant will partner closely with the client's L&D Manager to assess existing materials, recommend an effective onboarding strategy, and design role-specific learning pathways. Key Objectives Design a standardized, scalable 90-day onboarding program that can be consistently delivered across a geographically distributed organization Create role-specific onboarding pathways for: Front Desk staff Medical Assistants Patient Access Representatives (including Call Center roles) Bridge the gap between a 1-day in-person orientation and the first 90 days on the job through structured, repeatable training assets Balance core organizational standards with regional variations (e.g., benefits, corporate introductions) Reduce reliance on informal shadowing by introducing modern, sustainable learning solutions Responsibilities Analyze existing onboarding materials, documents, and processes collected from local offices Conduct SME interviews as needed to inform content design Recommend an overall onboarding approach, including delivery modalities (e.g., eLearning, virtual ILT, blended learning) Design and develop onboarding content, largely from scratch, using provided source materials (Word documents, PDFs, MP4 videos) Create structured learning pathways aligned to each target role Collaborate with L&D and stakeholders in a flexible, consultative manner Utilize AI tools appropriately in alignment with company policies Deliverables Recommended onboarding strategy and learning architecture Role-specific onboarding pathways for three target roles Onboarding learning assets and materials (format and level of interactivity TBD based on recommended solution) Content suitable for upload to the client's existing learning platform Required Experience & Skills Proven experience designing onboarding programs Experience designing training in a healthcare setting (healthcare office environment strongly preferred) Strong instructional design and content development skills Comfortable working with ambiguity and shaping solutions from the ground up Flexible, collaborative, and easy to work with in a virtual environment Ability to adapt communication style based on stakeholders (casual with core team, polished with leadership) Tools & Technology No required authoring tools; consultant may recommend preferred tools Consultant must provide their own laptop and tool licenses Familiarity with AI-enabled design tools is welcome and supported Additional Notes Most content will be newly developed, though some source materials exist Consultant selection is important; our client strongly prefers to choose the consultant directly This role is ideal for a consultant who enjoys designing scalable systems, working closely with stakeholders, and creating structure where none currently exists Start Date: March 2026 Duration: TBD based on consultant's estimate Hours: Up to 40 hours per week; hours will be determined based on project needs Location: Virtual NOTE: Due to the nature of this virtual position, we anticipate a high number of responses from interested applicants.
