Position Summary:
Full-time Phlebotomist position available for our Skagit Valley Women's Clinic in Mount Vernon, WA. The Phlebotomist will be working out of both locations. The Phlebotomist will follow patient care upon completion of venipuncture.
Responsible for performing phlebotomy, waived tests, Automated CBCs, EKG's, Spirometry's, to assist in the diagnostic and treatment of the patients. Keep and maintains lab, reports and logs, processes specimens for outside referrals, keeps adequate inventory of supplies. Performs all tasks in a safe manner and in compliance with Sea Mar Health and Safety and infection control program. Must be prepared to assist the Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist when necessary.
Qualifications:
High School diploma, GED or equivalent is required.
Graduation from an accredited phlebotomy training program required.
A minimum of one year experience in a hospital or clinic setting is desired.
Must have a CPR Certification.
Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.

The incumbent in this position is responsible for collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis. The incumbent in this position is responsible for collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis. Accurately obtains blood samples via venipuncture and capillary collection procedures with minimum patient discomfort. Ensures age-appropriate care is provided to patients from infant to geriatric. Ensures specimen integrity by following the laboratory's procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing. Promotes quality patient/client relations and creates supportive climate. Respects and maintains the confidentiality of information relative to the laboratory. Adheres to all laboratory policies and regulations.
Essential Job Functions
* Collects and prepares patient specimens to include blood, urine, sputum, and cultures. Coordinate specimen collection with physicians and/or nursing staff when draws must be taken from patients with central lines, groshong catheters and IV assisted draws.
* Adhere to established guidelines and procedures for accurate patient and specimen identification, identifying non-compliance situations and take the necessary steps to bring situation into compliance.
* Utilize computerized systems to enter laboratory orders, patient charges, generate reports, answer inquiries and resolve problems.
* Coordinate with physicians, nursing staff and other health care providers for clarification of orders, laboratory tests available, test result turnaround times, and for coordination of laboratory special procedures involving other health care providers.
* Refers questions regarding types of tests being performed and other aspects of care to the appropriate health care provider. Provides instructions to patients regarding specimen collection to be completed in the home environment. Coordinate with patients and physicians regarding collection errors and initiate appropriate follow-up measures to correct errors.
* Provide back up to laboratory positions on days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays and as needed. Duties include answering phones, requisition entry, routing patient orders, e.g., add-on orders, and preparation of specimens for testing.
* Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and a neat, orderly and clean work area.
* Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.

Position Summary:
Full-time Phlebotomist position available for our Medical Clinic in Elma, WA.
The Phlebotomist will follow patient care upon completion of venipuncture. Responsible for performing phlebotomy, waived tests, Automated CBCs, EKG's, Spirometry's, to assist in the diagnostic and treatment of the patients. Keep and maintains lab, reports and logs, processes specimens for outside referrals, keeps adequate inventory of supplies. Performs all tasks in a safe manner and in compliance with Sea Mar Health and Safety and infection control program. Must be prepared to assist the Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist when necessary.
Qualifications and/or Education:
Must have active Medical Assistant-Phlebotomist (MA-P) certification from the Washington State Department of Health required.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must have exceptional customer service and blood drawing skills.
Foreign applicant requires the equivalency in the US for the HS Diploma. International education equivalents applied to US education.
Graduated and certified from a recognized US Phlebotomy School Program or authenticity of documents and accreditation status of foreign schools.
