ABOUT THE ROLE The Community-Based Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist (MHRS) coordinates services and planning for children who are referred through social service, probation or mental health departments and are in the process of stepping down from institutional into family or family-like settings. Services will be provided almost exclusively in the community in families' homes, group homes, foster homes, schools, etc. The primary role is to ensure that all parties are working together toward stability for the child and family. MHRS engage clients in meaningful and authentic relationships while providing a safe, predictable, and positive environment that aligns with our clients' values and cultures. ABOUT START START (Short Term Access to Resources and Treatment) provides crisis stabilization and connection to longer term services. We are a small team and we work together closely to support youth and families facing significant challenges. Because this is a hybrid position, proactive communication is an incredibly important part of success in this role. Self-motivation and organization are also extremely important, as we ask staff to manage ever shifting priorities and ongoing documentation expectations independently. RESPONSIBILITIES * Promptly meet with clients and caregivers on a regular basis to further treatment goals utilizing culturally informed and best practice modalities * Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams for the purpose of care planning and support * Collaborate with agency staff, caregivers, other professionals and interested parties to formulate and implement individual client care plans, behavioral programs, and interventions * Cultivate and maintain relationships with community members and providers, as needed * Complete assessment and evaluation process of clients in order to develop and implement the care plan * Provide assistance in case planning and consultation to team members on clinical issues, as well as casework issues, as appropriate * Chart mental health notes, care plans, outcome measures, incident reports, and other documentation accurately and in a timely manner * Maintain availability for crisis intervention services, such as on-call rotation, if applicable * Comply with all child abuse reporting and Medicaid/Medi-Cal requirements in accordance with standards set by Seneca * Maintain strict confidentiality of client and business operations information * Commit to and engage in self-evaluation as well as organizational goals, strategies, and systemic practices regarding diversity, equity and inclusion * Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training * This may include intervening with the youths' behavioral program through physical management QUALIFICATIONS * Education/Experience requirements: * Bachelor's degree + 4 years experience working with children/youth and families with complex and enduring needs in a mental health setting * Experience working with children in out-of-home care preferred * Own vehicle, Valid California driver's license and insurability with Seneca's automobile policy * Ability to travel throughout Contra Costa County * TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements * Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred SCHEDULE * Hybrid role, Client driven schedule * Monday - Friday 9am - 5:30pm * One on call shift per month BENEFITS * Starting at $35.19 - $37.69 per year * Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications * $2000 sign-on bonus for new Seneca employees! * Salary increases each year * Additional compensation provided upon passing a bilingual language proficiency exam * Comprehensive employee benefits package: * Medical, dental, vision, chiropractic, acupuncture, and fertility coverage * Short and long-term disability, family leave, and life insurance * Partially paid premiums for dependents * 403b retirement plan * Employer-Paid Assistance Plan * 5 weeks of flexible paid time off, 11 paid holidays * Seneca is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness certified employer * Relocation assistance is available for qualified staff * Abundant promotional opportunities across California and Washington * Specialized training and development opportunities
