This internship provides hands-on experience in reviewing project documents, performing quantity take-offs, and assisting with subcontractor outreach. Working under the guidance of experienced estimators and bid coordinators, the intern will gain exposure to full lifecycle of construction estimating practices, bidding platforms, and subcontractor relations while building the foundation for a future career in construction management or estimating. At Sevan you will be part of a team that is dynamic and fast paced. Strong communication skills and a desire to be involved in all aspects of a project life cycle are a must. Problem solving skills, thinking outside the box and dealing with ambiguity are skills that we value. You will work alongside experienced individuals as well as the opportunity to operate independently. Essential Responsibilities: Assist with reviewing project documents to help define scope and support bid preparation. Help prepare and distribute Invitations to Bid (ITBs) to subcontractors via bidding platforms such as Building Connected. Support the team in drafting RFIs (Requests for Information) for clarification of project scope. Participate in subcontractor outreach through email and phone calls to help solicit bids and confirm trade coverage. Assist in maintaining subcontractor bid solicitation lists and updating bid tracking tools. Perform basic quantity take-offs under the guidance of senior estimators using on-screen take-off software. Research regional trade costs to support estimate development. Help collect, review, and organize subcontractor quotes for accuracy and compliance with project requirements. Support the preparation of estimate sheets and proposals, including inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications. Contribute to project documentation such as site visit notes, risk registers, and estimate logs. Participate in team meetings and gain exposure to the preconstruction and business development process. Other duties as assigned to support estimating and bid coordination efforts. Qualifications: Lives in the Dallas, TX or Plano, TX areas with the ability to commute into our office in Plano 4-5 days per week. Current student pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. Strong interest in preconstruction, estimating, and construction project management. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills. Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; exposure to estimating or take-off software is a plus. Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members and subcontractors. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. Work Conditions & Pay: This position will be based out of our Plano, TX office 4-5 days per week. The anticipated compensation range for the position is an hourly rate of $16 - $21 based on a full-time schedule, market and business conditions, and is commensurate on individual education, qualifications, and experience.
