Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for assisting and providing safe, consistent, and appropriate patient care within his or her scope of practice. The Medical Assistant will assist the nurse and provider, including but not limited to obtaining and document vital signs, presenting problems, assisting the provider in the exam room, performing CLIA waived lab tests, and answering telephone calls.
Role & Responsibilities:
Ensure that exam rooms are equipped with supplies and equipment
Gives oral, SL, nasal, and topical medication as directed by the provider.
Vital signs; such as blood pressure, temperature, and weight, and basic sound care.
May perform IM, SQ, and Intradermal Injections.
Entering information into Electronic Medical Record (EHR).
Reinforces instructions given to the patient by the Provider and RN, refers new needs for instruction to RN.
Assists in preparing and directing patients for examination to meet SVMS objectives.
Escort patient to exam room for initial assessment.
Performs brief patient history, chief complaint, current medications, allergies, and significant previous medical/psychosocial problems.
Functions as a provider chaperone when needed during exams, assist the provider as needed.
Screens assigned telephone messages and processes injuries, or refer to appropriate medical personnel per SVMS protocols.
Effectively performs specific laboratory test/Point of Care testing that has been approved by the Laboratory Directory.
Performs nursing procedures and treatments, and medication administration according to SVMS protocols upon request of the provider. Notifies the RN of significant findings or changes in patient's physical or mental condition.
Demonstrates flexibility, open mindedness, and versatility in adjusting to changing environments and requirements as necessary.
Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior with patients, families, co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and other department staff.
Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy at all times according to Shenandoah Community Health policies and procedures; uses discretion when discussing patient matters.

Shenandoah Community Health is looking for a Front Office Assistant. This position is primarily responsible greeting and checking in patients, scheduling patients, collecting co-payments, answering the department's telephone, and accepting/scanning new patient registration documents into the EHR while maintaining the wait list. In times of need, to also be responsible for collecting patient vital as requested.
Role & Responsibilities:
• Greet clients in a courteous manner.
• Answering and screening all phone calls
• Check in clients and generate fee tickets for providers in a timely manner.
• Collect co-pays and process transactions for medical record copying fees as needed.
• Ensure all new client registration documents are filed in an accurate and organized manner in making sure other medical personnel will be able to easily locate documents in the EHR when needed.
• Ensure confidentiality of all client information in performing his/her duties.
• Maintain the new client waitlist to ensure accuracy and timely processing of new patient appointments.
• Review the 3-week letter report and generate letters for outreach as needed.
• Collecting and documenting client vitals as needed, in conjunction with the guidelines provided in the clinical responsibilities of Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) .
• Resolving day to day issues as required, ensuring high quality services.
Essential Skills and Education Requirements:
• Bilingual a plus.
• Must have a high school diploma or the equivalent with some college course work in a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in a medical office setting preferred.
• Previous experience performing reception duties is preferred.
• Must have excellent data entry and computer skills, including experience with Medical Manager, or Next Gen.
• Must have strong communication and customer service skills.

Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc. Organizes medical records, including lab results, progress notes, etc. to ensure the provider has the necessary information available during the patient's encounter. Scans necessary medical information into the chart readying the chart for the patient's encounter. Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and experienced Clinical Assistant who will perform a variety of clinical tasks for a physician, as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures that exam rooms are prepped, cleaned, and stocked in preparation for patients and between patients as required. Preps patient charts as required for appointments.
Preps patients for any in office procedures and assists providers as necessary with exams, treatments and testing. As well as, performs necessary procedures as required (phlebotomy, bladder scans, catheter changes, etc.)
Collect and properly label all necessary lab specimens to include but not limited to blood, urine, and biopsy tissue
Perform CLIA waved laboratory testing, strictly adhering to the policies and guidelines established by UVA and the practice
Effectively uses necessary PPE as appropriate and abides by safe handling and disposal protocols of medical equipment and materials
Provide patient education and training as needed to include by not limited to self- catheterization, bladder irrigations, pre-op instructions and post-op care
Utilizes electronic medical records for documentation and charting all patient information to include but not limited to phone encounters, appointment scheduling, lab results, provider orders, etc.
Cover phones for patient triage for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and other duties related to aiding in patient care and treatment, by answering, documenting, and routing when appropriate all incoming patient calls
Obtains authorizations and pre-certifications for clinical treatments, exams, diagnostic testing, and prescriptions as required per the patient's health plan

Successful completion of secondary education in medical assisting or other nursing related field of study

Position Overview

Maintains good academic standing of an 70% average or better throughout the entirety of the course in order to take the registry exam. If your percentage on the testing is not at a passing level by the midterm you will be disqualified from the course.
Completes ALL required assignments. This includes but is not limited to classwork and homework. Adheres to all class guidelines and policies. Works well with others as part of a cohesive team. Maintains professional appearance and attitude. Proficiently performs all required skills.
Uses downtime to address global department needs or personal education.
100% attendance required at all classes and clinical assignments. Make-up will be permitted for a maximum of 16 hours of class time for emergency purposes only. NO EXCEPTIONS. This is due to state and national program requirements.
Must be able to commit to 12 weeks of FT training. Monday through Friday 40 hours a week.
Performs additional duties as assigned and supports the mission of the department.
