Provides direct support to individuals by implementing and supporting person-centered support and behavior plans, respecting and understanding the rights of individuals supported, ensuring safety, recognizing individual needs, and encouraging independence to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
ESSENTIAL DSP/Direct Support JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a Direct Support Professional, you support the individuals' receiving services from SIRS to...
Achieve goals the individual selects.
Achieve as much independence as possible.
Feel supported in daily living to create a safe & healthy life.
Make each day the BEST day.
Depending on position, this could include assisting individuals with activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and transferring while encouraging the individual to perform as much self-care as possible. Understanding and utilizing adaptive equipment including wheelchairs and belts/locks, Hoyer lifts, etc. and be able to securely load and unload clients'. (Note: Not applicable to all positions.)
Driving individuals to daily appointments, work, day programs, recreation events, and stores as needed.
Completing medication records and counts.
Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for individual(s). Performing general housekeeping and teaching/supporting individual(s) to perform housekeeping.
Completes all trainings including new hire, on the job and annual trainings within the designated timeframe.
Understands and follows proper physical safety and emergency protocols.
Completes all documentation accurately and timely.
Qualifications:
The minimum age requirement is 18 years.
Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and a satisfactory driving record.
Must pass a drug screen and comprehensive background check.
Requirements:
CPR/First Aid - provided.
Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to grasp the equivalent of a 12 oz. can.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must be able to assist with personal care
Schedule:
Every other weekend 10am-10pm
Monday and Thursday 3:30pm-10pm

1. Saturday and Sunday 8:00am - 8:00pm, Monday and Tuesday 5:00am - 8:00am

3. Monday thru Thursday 4:00pm - 8:00pm, Friday 3:00pm - 10:00pm
$1.00 shift differential for all hours worked between 10:00 pm-7:30 am Monday through Thursday, and 10:00 pm Friday - 7:30 am Monday.
