DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Diagnose and repair truck, trailer components such as doors, floors, side panels, electrical and air brake systems. Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on tractor and trailer equipment including routine technical repairs and completing repair orders. Perform maintenance repairs as required to maximize safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, lift-gates, and any company-owned equipment. Abide by all Company policies and safety rules and assist in maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Assist drivers with addressing outstanding vehicle issues. Maintains repairs for class 8 trucks, trailers and yard tractors. Safely operates gauges, forklifts, shunt truck, torches, grinders, and various hand and power tools. Performs DOT inspections and compliancy. Qualifications KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and ABILITIES Ability to work unsupervised, make decisions as needed Effective communicator and team player Heavy diesel truck and trailer mechanic skills WORK EXPERIENCE Experience working with air brake, hydraulic and electrical systems. Prior welding and fabrication experience preferred. Tire repair experience (repair, mounting, dismounting) preferred. Job Description FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt SHOP HOURS: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Specific Shift Hours TBD - Based on preference and experience, along with shop need. PRIMARY PURPOSE: Housby is looking for a dynamic Diesel Technician to join our growing Carroll team! This position is responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles according to OEM guidelines with moderate supervision and communicating needed repairs to management. EXPECTATIONS: Essential Duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Maintain equipment by performing inspections to identify work and/or damaged parts. Diagnose and repair vehicles according to OEM guidelines. Make recommendations of repairs needed to management to provide estimate for customers. Correct vehicle deficiencies by replacing, repairing, and adjusting parts. This may include disassembly of major components, subcomponents, or systems to include engine, drive train, electrical, air conditioning, cabs, clutches, and other components. Perform repairs within given timelines. Properly document time and steps taken for correction of customer complaint. Use shop provided tools as per intended use. Should a tool be lost or broken, report this to management immediately Properly dispose of any fluids. Clean work bay when repairs are complete. Follow general safety rules for each job. Ear/eye protection, leather boots, safety cages, etc. Must supply tools to make job as efficient as possible. Willing to obtain a CDL within the first year of employment. Complete continuing education courses, as needed. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 3-5 years of diesel engine experience and/or medium duty gas engines. Training on multiple different classes of trucks is a plus. Class A or B CDL preferred but not required. (Company will assist employee to comply.) Possess a strong attention to detail. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. General computer skills. Must follow and have Housby's Core Values EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED. Willing to continue education as directed. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to view a computer monitor. Alpha/numeric keyboarding. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
