Your Opportunity
The Associate Manager, Trade Planning and Execution is responsible for the coordination of the Smithfield planning process to include pricing and promotion plans by our Sales Managers and Brokers . This role serves as a liaison between our Sales and Business Management teams and will help facilitate the collaborative review process to secure approval of account plans and individual agreements.
Core Responsibilities
Facilitates the trade planning process by working with the assigned Sales team to create sound customer pricing & trade plans key customers.
Understands the dynamics between pricing & trade spending for all key customers within the assigned territory. Learns how to apply syndicated data and analytic tools to create insights & build smarter plans.
Working with your Sales Development Manager, serve as a primary liaison between your assigned Sales team and internal teams such as Business Management, Demand Planning, and Marketing.
Coordinates the creation of plans that achieve company objectives and ensures those agreements are understood when they are reviewed for approval.
In conjunction with business management, creates & communicates company policies/objectives/goals to field sales regarding price & trade planning.
Helps communicate & adhere to an effective planning process/schedule.
Coordinates reports that track all trade spending including summarizing actual versus planned performance on a monthly/YTD basis.
Facilitates plan roll-up & fund close-out processes to help insure plan implications and that P&L reports are completed accurately and timely.
Identifies and develops support for end user training needs to ensure that all sales team members are using the system effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications

Serve as the primary executive liaison for international vendors, requiring 2-3 travel periods per year to build relationships, assess capabilities, and resolve issues directly.
Oversee strategic domestic and international vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with company standards and ethical sourcing practices.
Responsible for supplier evaluations, contract negotiations, and performance monitoring to maximize value and service as well as vendor compliance. This is measured through key performance metrics throughout the year.
Ensure clear communication of product, pricing, and policy updates across internal teams.
Partner with international back-office teams to ensure alignment on production schedules, capacity planning, product quality control at origin and proactive issue resolution.
Logistics & Operations
Partner with distribution center leadership to ensure smooth inbound flow, container management, and inventory accuracy.
Drive continuous improvement in supply chain processes, systems, and reporting for enhanced transparency, cost control and efficiency.
Oversee KPI reporting (on-time delivery, vendor compliance, cost-to-serve, freight cost per container, etc.).
Champion system and workflow optimizations that enhance forecast accuracy, landed cost predictability, and operational scalability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Merchandising, Product Development, Finance, and Sales to align inventory availability and open to buy with business priorities.
Serve as a key voice in strategic discussions around sourcing, vendor capabilities, and supply continuity.
Collaborate with Sales and Finance to support margin recovery and product lifecycle planning, including identifying opportunities for cost savings or re-sourcing.

Proven experience working directly with overseas vendors, including willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 35% of the time, including recurring travel to Turkey and India. Previous international travel experience is a plus!
Advanced Excel and ERP system proficiency; experience with supply chain analytics tools preferred.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills across cultures and time zones.

Position Summary
The Materials Planning & Warehouse Manager is responsible for planning, purchasing, receiving, inventory control, warehousing, and materials flow to support production and on-time delivery. This role ensures the right materials are available at the right time, quantity, cost, and quality, while maintaining accurate inventory records and driving continuous improvement across the materials function
Key Responsibilities
Materials Planning & Production Support
Develop and manage materials plans aligned to the production schedule, sales forecasts, and customer demand.
Ensure uninterrupted material availability for manufacturing while minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Scheduling to resolve shortages, substitutions, and priority shifts.
Maintain and improve MRP/ERP parameters (lead times, safety stock, reorder points, lot sizes).
Purchasing & Supplier Management
Oversee purchasing activities for raw materials, components, and indirect materials as needed.
Manage supplier performance around quality, lead time, cost, communication, and service levels.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to support cost and lead-time targets.
Identify and qualify new suppliers; lead dual-source or risk-mitigation strategies.
Warehouse Operations & Material Handling
Lead all warehouse activities including receiving, inspection coordination, put-away, stocking, picking, kitting, staging, and line delivery.
Manage warehouse layout, slotting, and space utilization to improve flow, access, and safety.
Establish standard work for material movement, FIFO/FEFO, labeling, and location control.
Oversee material handling equipment usage and maintenance (forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes/hoists, carts, racks).
Ensure timely staging of kits/materials to production and/or fulfillment areas.
Coordinate internal logistics routes and point-of-use replenishment where applicable.
Inventory Control & Accuracy
Own inventory accuracy through cycle count programs, audits, and transaction discipline.
Investigate variances, identify root causes, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Maintain accurate location data, min/max levels, reorder points, and material statuses.
Control quarantined, non-conforming, excess, slow-moving, and obsolete inventory.
Ensure traceability and proper documentation for all material transactions.
Receiving & Shipping Coordination
Oversee inbound receiving schedules, unloading, verification, and system receipts.
Partner with Quality to ensure inspection workflows do not delay material availability.
Resolve shipment discrepancies, damages, and returns with suppliers/carriers.
Coordinate outbound shipping readiness (packaging, documentation, staging) as needed.
Track freight performance and support expediting for critical shortages.
Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Own data integrity for materials, BOM accuracy, inventory transactions, and supplier records.
Report KPIs such as inventory turns, stockouts, on-time delivery, supplier OTIF, and material cost variance.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean tools (5S, Kanban, VSM, ABC analysis).
Support cross-functional projects such as new product launch readiness, engineering changes, and cost reduction.
Leadership & Team ManagementManage and develop materials, purchasing, and warehouse staff.
Set clear goals, monitor performance, coach team members, and build a culture of accountability.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in materials management, inventory control, or supply chain in a manufacturing environment or automotive environment.
2+ years of people management experience.
Ability to read/interpret BOMs, drawings, specs, and change notices.
Knowledge of import/export processes and international sourcing is preferred.
Strong understanding of automotive parts, materials handling, and supply chain operations.
Proficient with ERP systems and inventory management software (experience with Syteline or similar preferred).
Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
