This is a fully on-site, in office role 5 days a week. **Location based in:** San Jose, CA or Newark, DE**Roles and Responsibilities:*** Create electrical installation packages that detail how fuel cells will be installed at a customer's facility, adhering to the National Electric Code (NEC) and local jurisdiction requirements as needed.* Work closely with the remote engineering and drafting teams to support the initial design creation and AutoCAD drafting.* Design microgrids with fuel cell generation to ensure the physical installation meets all product specifications and the customers' needs.* Communicate engineering and technical data effectively by implementing project milestones through collaboration.* Provide technical support while working with 3rd party microgrid controllers.* Create Sequence of Operations to state how the fuel cells will transfer from paralleling with the utility to microgrid (island) operation.* Responsible for ensuring the electrical designs conform to specifications required for the implementation of Bloom Energy fuel cell systems.* Perform and review power systems studies that include, voltage drop, short-circuit, coordination, and Arc Flash.* Responsible for reviewing 3rd party designs and custom equipment solutions. Produce project specific drawings and documents as needed.* Support the Supply Chain Team by reviewing electrical equipment packages and ensuring they meet Bloom's specifications.* Interface directly with external parties as needed. The group consists of a Transmission Strategy team, Interconnection team, High Voltage Engineering team, and a Generation Modelling and Technical Compliance team. The primary responsibilities of this role are: strategic analysis of the interconnection procedures, queue and transmission system in a given RTO/ISO to formulate and steer greenfield project siting, and to then prepare and manage interconnection requests through to an Interconnection Agreement with the most favorable terms possible. The Interconnection Project Engineer supports the Interconnection (IC) Regional Lead on progressing projects through the interconnection process and working cross functionally with the broader Development Team to optimize the position throughout the development lifecycle. The preferred candidate has experience in: the preparation and review of interconnection requests; review and management of PSS/E and/or PSLF models; and participating in the management of solar and wind projects through the generator interconnection processes including negotiation and execution of Generator Interconnection Agreements. Additional responsibilities include monitoring the progress of required system upgrades and identifying creative mitigation solutions when needed within the applicable open access transmission tariff. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The Interconnection Project Engineer will support and lead when necessary, all interconnection activities through the full life cycle of development and construction of projects. Desired Skills and Expertise: * In depth knowledge reviewing interconnection studies and familiarity with power flow models. Experience running study models a plus. * Strong ability to analyze power flow and system impact studies for interconnection of utility scale solar, wind, and storage generating facilities. * In depth knowledge of System Impact Studies (SIS) and other interconnection studies of renewable energy generating facilities in the respective region. * Experienced understanding of electrical diagrams, preliminary site plans, and preparation of interconnection request packages for submittal. * Awareness of transmission systems and transmission expansion plans in US. * Strong knowledge of Open Access Transmission Tariffs and Generator Interconnection Procedures. Minimum Qualifications: * BS in Electrical Engineering or related field. * 4+ years work history in renewable or traditional energy development, utility generation development, or transmission planning.
