Unit Position Summary
Cardiacsonographers, also known as echocardiographers, are medical professionals who use ultrasound technology to create images of the heart and blood vessels for diagnostic purposes. They operate ultrasound equipment, anlayze images, and collaborate with cardiologists to help diagnose and treat heart conditions.
The On-Call CardiacSonographer duties include, but are not limited to: Performing echocardiogram tests to obtain important data about patients; looking at blood flow, valve function, and chamber size to determine the overall condition of the heart; assisting physicians in the diagnosis of patients with heart conditions; accurately recording patient data and test results; helping with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments or cleaning equipment.

Highly experienced CardiacSonographer with a proven track record of providing accurate and reliable diagnostic imaging services to patients in a variety of medical settings. Proven ability to work collaboratively with other medical professionals to ensure the highest quality of care.

Registered Diagnostic CardiacSonographer (RDCS) or equivalent certification in cardiacsonography is required.
Experience with advanced echocardiographic techniques and devices.
Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
Excellent patient interaction skills with a compassionate approach to care.

What You Will Do:
Performs Cardiac Ultrasound Testing (echocardiography)
Perform echocardiography studies, including M-mode, 2D, Doppler, color flow, and spectral Doppler imaging, following established protocols
Conduct stress echocardiograms (exercise and pharmacologic) and pediatric echocardiograms.
Assist physicians during Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEE's), ensuring procedural support and patient safety.
Partner with (RN) to perform echocardiograms utilizing Ultrasound Enhancing Agents and bubble studies as indicate.
Educate patients on procedures and provide clear instructions to ensure cooperation and comfort.
Position patients appropriately (e.g., left lateral decubitus) to optimize image acquisition.
Identify and improve suboptimal images by applying strategies to enhance image acquisition.
Document findings accurately using the echocardiography reporting system.
Ensure timely dictation, transcription, and distribution of final reports.
Collaborate with physicians and promptly communicate relevant observations or concerns.
Maintain the percentage of suboptimal exams below the established performance benchmark.
Adhere to and support all accreditation standards; assist in maintaining IAC (Intersocietal Accreditation Commission) echocardiography accreditation.
Performs Holter Monitor Service
Oversees Holter monitor services, including application, disconnection, programming, and functionality checks.
Educate patient on proper use and expectations of Holter and long-term monitor devices.
Ensure timely data retrieval, report preparation, and follow-up for physician review.
Cardiac Long-Term Monitoring
Applies and removes cardiac long-term monitoring devices in accordance with established procedures
Educates patients on monitor maintenance, daily usage, and proper transmission of cardiac event data
Manages and reviews data using designated software platforms; prepares and finalizes reports for physician interpretation.
Leadership & Operational Duties:
Serve as a technical resource and mentor to sonographers and support staff.
Coordinate daily workflow, staff assignments, and coverage to optimize efficiency and patient care.
Develop and manage the team schedule, ensuring adequate coverage across all shifts and services.
Assist with training, onboarding, and ongoing competency assessment of sonographers.
Monitor and maintain compliance with IAC (Intersocietal Accreditation Commission) standards.
Communicate and collaborate with third party partners (e.g., Phillips, Lantheus etc..)
Participate in quality assurance initiatives, case reviews, and process improvement projects.
Communicate with cardiologists, nursing staff, and leadership to ensure continuity of care and service excellence.

Performs 12-lead EKG and completes required paperwork and documentation.

The Echo Ultrasound Technician performs diagnostic sonography examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate and record pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs diagnostic procedures applying prescribed methods of ultrasound technique.
Produces diagnostic images using Doppler, abdominal or other ultrasound.
Selects transducer and adjust equipment controls according to organ to be examined, depth of field and other specifications of test.
Explains procedures to patients so they are well informed regarding the examination and address any of their concerns.
Keys in test data and patient information into computer to maintain records of test results.
Assists physician with ultrasound guided biopsies and/or invasive procedures.
Maintains and calibrate equipment to insure accuracy of results.
Updates all medical records to insure accuracy.
Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.
Orients and mentor new staff members.

Graduate of an accredited school in Ultrasound Technology required
Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field preferred
A minimum of 6 months of related work experience post internship/externship required
A minimum of 2 years of experience post internship/externship preferred Registered Diagnostic CardiacSonographer (RDCS) or Registered CardiacSonographer (RCS) required to perform Echo cardiograms
Must be registered in specific ultrasound modality they perform, e.g., vascular, general
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required w/in first 90 days of employment
PAY RANGE:
$31.0 - $44.36 Hourly
The posted pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for this position. Final compensation will depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, geographic location, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for a bonuses or commissions.
