Ability to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).
Job Duties
Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (including assisting radiologists in guided procedures in a variety of settings).
Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted.
Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Perform adult transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE) including 2D, M-mode, Doppler, and color flow imaging
Perform stress echocardiograms and assist with transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) as required
Accurately acquire, analyze, and document diagnostic images and preliminary findings
Ensure proper patient preparation, positioning, and comfort during procedures
Maintain compliance with ACR, IAC, and ChristianaCare standards and protocols
Recognize and report abnormal findings or urgent conditions to interpreting physicians promptly
Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment; report equipment issues as needed
Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and HIPAA requirements
Accurately document exams in the EMR/PACS system
Participate in quality assurance, continuing education, and department initiatives
Provide compassionate, professional interaction with patients, families, and care teams
Required Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field

Acquire and analyze high-quality cardiac ultrasound images following established protocols
Prepare patients for procedures, explain exams, and ensure patient comfort and safety
Operate and maintain echocardiography equipment; ensure proper calibration and functionality
Accurately document patient data, exam findings, and measurements in the EMR/PACS
Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures as needed
Follow infection control, HIPAA, and safety guidelines at all times
Participate in quality assurance, accreditation, and continuing education activities
Communicate effectively with cardiologists, nurses, and other clinical staff
Education & Experience:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field
Completion of an accredited cardiac sonography program required
Previous experience in echocardiography preferred (hospital experience a plus)
Certifications & Licensure:
RDCS (AE) through ARDMS or RCS through CCI required or obtained within designated timeframe
CPR/BLS certification required
