Verifies company authorization for services-ensuring the accuracy of the registration forms. 3. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all computer fields (i.e., demographics, payment screen, etc.), and companies preferences. 4. Answers multi-line phones and schedules appointments. 5. Collects patient payments and maintains a balanced cash drawer. 6. Schedules referrals and outpatient testing/procedures. 7. Registers new patients from referrals and contacts patients' referring providers with appointment. 8. Collaborates with the Cashiers Department to resolve billing issues. 9. Assists in the coordination of care for the patient in collaboration with other members of the health care team to meet the health care needs of the patient. 10. Pre-cleans, decontaminates, and transports contaminated instruments according to policy 11. Follows medical record documentation procedure as detailed in the MCF Documentation Assistant policy. 12. Assists the Provider in navigating the medical record. 13. Present during the Provider's performance of a clinical service and documents (on behalf of the Provider) everything said during the course of the service. 14. Cross trained to perform BWC paperwork. 15. Cross trained to perform receptionist/registrar duties. 16. Shift: Days- 36 hours per week. Weekend rotation The Unit Clerk is the primary receptionist for the inpatient unit. This individual provides clerical support to the care team including typing, word processing, transcribing physician orders, and ordering supplies and acts as liaison facilitating communication with or between other care providers and visitors directly or via telephone. This position has limited patient contact, has access to confidential patient information and works collaboratively with the care team under the indirect supervision of the Nurse Manager.
