Responsible for evaluating respiratory care for appropriateness and effectiveness and communicates findings/results to other health care professionals. This position may perform role of charge therapist in absence of manager/supervisor. Responsibilities And Duties: Maintains records and communicates information Administers MDI, medication nebulization, posture drainage, positive pressure breathing, mechanical ventilation, oxygen and aerosol therapy, incentive spirometry, etc.; observes patient during treatments; performs auscultation, checks pulse and respiratory rate; notifies Medical or Nursing Personnel of any adverse reactions; records pertinent data on patient charts; carries out interventions appropriate to patient age, sex, physical and developmental need. Prepares for patient treatment: receives orders from Physicians and Advanced Practice Practitioners for treatment; reviews requests to determine requirements for treatments; prioritizes work assignments; gathers necessary materials and equipment and transports to patient's bedside; prepares medications, explains treatment and breathing procedures to patient; follows protocols. Washington CH, Ohio Casual: As needed Shift: Variable Carries out physician orders according to protocols, best practices, and respiratory care policies. Accurate and timely completion of patient assessment involving the evaluation of cardiopulmonary function and treatment effectiveness, and patient/family education to contribute to the development and ongoing evaluation of a multidisciplinary plan of care. Accurate and timely documentation/recording and communication of patient assessment findings, treatment effectiveness and outcomes. Effective management and evaluation of critical/hazardous procedures in collaboration with other licensed health care professionals. Accurately performs diagnostic procedures and cardiac monitoring with recognition of arrhythmias. Accurately administers medications for the testing or treatment of cardiopulmonary impairment. Assists with new employee orientation and annual competency skills evaluations. Takes an active department leadership role in Quality Improvement Processes. Minimum/Required Qualifications Associate Degree with a concentration in Respiratory Therapy Licensed by the Ohio Respiratory Care Board and Registered by the (NBRC) National Board for Respiratory Care ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support and NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program Completed Electrocardiogram (ECG) interpretation program completion required.
