What You'll Do:

Minimum Requirements:
Able to commit to 15 or more hours per week
Hold an active, unrestricted, and valid SLP license in your state of residence and Maine, in good standing

Compensation:
This is a W2 employment opportunity. The exact compensation band is based on where the provider resides. Compensation for providers living in CA, HI, and NY is $44-$54 an hour; AK, CO, CT, DC, DE, IL, IN, MA, MD, NJ, NM, OH, PA, RI, TX, VA, and WA is $44-$54 an hour; AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, KS, KY, MI, MN, MT, NC, NH, NV, OK, OR, SC, UT, WI, and WY is $44-$49 an hour; AL, ID, LA, ME, MO, MS, ND, NE, SD, TN, VT, and WV is $44-$47 an hour. This position also includes an opportunity to earn up to a $250 (up to $3,000 per year) monthly incentive for providers who work 60 hours or more in a pay period (approximately every 2 weeks) and meet other eligibility criteria. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual needs of students with speech/language impairments.
Assists and guides teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech/language impairments.
Provides a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, fluency and language impairments.
Assists in screening to identify children with speech/language impairments.
Provides information and support to parents and families when appropriate.
Serves as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech/language.
Keeps thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving speech/language services. This also includes keeping IEP files up to date.
Develops and implements appropriate Individualized Education Plans for identified students.
Participates in student teams, special services staff meetings (building and district level), IEP meetings, and other meetings as requested by the Director of Special Services. This includes chairing IEP team meetings and student team meetings and following all required procedures.
Assumes primary responsibility for requisitioning and maintaining needed equipment and supplies.
Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibility as may be assigned from time to time.

Address a broad range of communication areas including:

Design and implement Social Club programming for Autistic students using Social Thinking methodologies.
Assessment and Documentation
Conduct initial and ongoing evaluations, screenings, and assessments to identify communication disorders.
Develop, write, and update IEP goals and present levels of performance in collaboration with the IEP team.
Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential records including session notes, progress reports, and compliance documentation.
Ensure therapy and documentation adhere to IDEA regulations and school policies.
Collaboration and Consultation

The Speech Therapist must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served in his/her department. The individual must acquire and/or demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. He/she must be able to provide care with consideration of developmental status.
PRIMARY (ESSENTIAL) DUTIES
Based upon the treatment diagnosis of the patient, OBJECTIVELY AND QUANTIFIABLY assesses a baseline level of communication and swallowing function for each patient referred. Such evaluations should include baseline assessment of pertinent medical and onset history, articulation, voice, fluency, language, swallowing and cognition. This baseline information should be sufficient to adequately form the basis of treatment outcome goals.
Based upon the initial assessment of the patient, identify communication/swallowing needs and establish appropriate treatment outcome goals. Goals will be established as an expected outcome of the patient's treatment plan, will be expressed in measurable terms, and will be realistic and appropriate to the patient's condition.
Based upon the treatment outcome goals established for the patient, plan and implement treatment programs designed to achieve or significantly progress toward achievement of outcome goals. Treatment programs will be dynamic relative to the clinical response of the patient and will achieve a level of consistency and continuity that will enhance the patient's clinical response.
Provides assessments and/or screens in response to referrals made to determine area(s) of need for the student within the rural school contract setting.
Work Conditions/Hours
Normal hours are 8 a.m. 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Opportunity for 4/10 schedule with blocked time for school documentation, meetings, and travel time considered. However, schedules may vary in accordance with school necessity.
