The therapist is responsible for documentation for Medicaid billing for all eligible students. The employee reports to the principal/s at his/her school/s, if school based and to the Exceptional Children's Preschool Handicapped Lead Teacher if center-based. Both report to the Program Administrator of Exceptional Children and the Executive Director of Exceptional Children. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Planning and Oversight Organizes the school program, cooperates with others to accomplish its goals, coordinates program services with other student services and maintains records in accordance with established rules, regulations and ethical standards. Maintains Medicaid billing profiles and therapy notes on all Medicaid eligible students using the designated billing service for the district. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Evaluation and treatment of voice and upper airway disorders * Accurate & thorough documentation and billing of clinical services * Complete workflows related to patient care (e.g., insurance requests, etc.) * Maintain required licensure, trainings, as required by Duke, JCAHO, & other governing bodies * Participate in staff meetings, attend/complete CEUs as required by ASHA & NC * Collaboration with laryngologists and other providers on treatment plans JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS * Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited university program. * Previous medical setting experience preferred, although other relevant clinical experience considered. * Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology issued by ASHA -- NC License in Speech Language Pathology issued by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists -- Temporary License in Speech Language Pathology issued by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech and Language Pathologists and Audiologists Duke is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to providing employment opportunity without regard to an individual's age, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, race, religion, sex (including pregnancy and pregnancy related conditions), sexual orientation or military status.
