Essential Job Functions: Provides immunization services and ACIP-recommended vaccines to children, adolescents and adults to maximize vaccine coverage levels in accordance with the DSHS Immunization Contractors Guide for Local Health Departments. Assists with ensuring that all ACIP-recommended vaccines are routinely available to patients who want them. Recommends the simultaneous administration of all needed vaccines for the patient. Follows only medically supportable contraindications to vaccination. Verbally educates patients and parents/guardians about the benefits and risks of vaccination, and distributes DSHS educational materials as applicable as part of this conversation. Discusses, and schedules the next immunization visit at each client encounter. Explains the benefits of a "medical home" and assists the parent/guardian in obtaining or identifying the child's medical home. Uses a Reminder/Recall system (manual, TWICES, ImmTrac, or other system). Follows "standing orders" for vaccination. Adheres to employee immunization policy according to CDC recommendations. Promotes and assesses immunization compliance. Meets and monitors the established goals and objectives of the department's immunization program. Participates in the Division's Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement activities.
