Community Living Professional:
Salary: $20.84/hr

Job Description:
The Applicant will support and assist individuals with daily living skills, prepare and assist with meal planning, building housekeeping skills, money management, personal care, and grocery shopping. Applicants must be creative, organized, and enjoy scheduling and implementing activities in the homes and outings in the community and focus on building connections within the community. A successful applicant will be reliable, and hands-on, with a genuine interest in helping others stay active, engaged, and involved in their communities.
Positions Available:
Full Time and Part Time positions available
All located in Charles County
Duties Include but not limited to:
Implementing goals
Monitoring/documenting progress
Administer medications
Assist individuals move from room to room and around their homes
Assisting individuals with laundering and house cleaning
Supporting individuals with their own choices
May be required to transport individuals on outings in the community of their choice.
Position requires flexibility during the day when individuals are at the day program ie: assist with medical appointments if necessary, assist if individuals are sick
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more
Full drivers license
Clean Driving Record with 2 years driving experience and less than 2 points on driving record
Experience working with disabled adults preferred

Overview of Position: Community Support Specialists help adults with disabilities to work and experience full and meaningful participation and membership in their chosen communities. Support needs are individualized and may include support to work, volunteer, maintain or learn new skills, gain higher levels of independence, build strong community connections, learn self-advocacy skills, manage personal resources and generally participate in community life.
People of working age will be supported to continually explore and consider competitive employment People past working age who are no longer interested in pursuing work, may be supported in retirement activities.
Support occurs in a variety of community-based settings and may include both in-person or virtual supports. This position is responsible for working cooperatively with people and their teams to support a person's employment and community participation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Use person-centered principles and strategies to support people in service delivery
Support people to develop and maintain relationships, including those that are natural and unpaid
Support people to expand their social roles and experiences
Safeguard and respect the confidentiality and privacy of people supportedSupport people to learn and maintain community safety skills and activities of daily living
Establish open communication with families, community members, coworkers, team members and other providers etc. to ensure proper dissemination of information that is timely, respectful and to the benefit of the person
Report all incidents according to Ardmore's Incident Reporting policy and procedures
Immediately report any instance of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or harm
Support people to maintain health and wellness

Must have a valid driver's license and daily access to reliable personal transportation, as necessary, to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the position.
Must believe everyone can work.
Must be able understand and effectively support the physical, emotional and cognitive needs of the people that you work with.
Must become knowledgeable of digital document formats for program data keeping such as Cisms.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Must be confident and comfortable working in the field independently, and in a variety of different settings.
Must have excellent time management and customer service skills. Strong ability to think creatively and develop strong internal and external relationships and resources is required.
Knowledge of ASL strongly preferred.

The DSP, Community Living Services/Residential will be committed to supporting the organization's mission of ensuring quality support services are provided and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are both respected and afforded opportunities to choose and participate in and access community events, activities, and resources.
Responsibilities We'll Help You Master
Support individuals in achieving their personal goals and fulfilling their dreams by having a “person-centered” focus.
Teach independent living and daily skills to the persons-served by identifying and meeting social, environmental, and health care needs such as daily grooming and personal care routines.
Actively plans, coordinates, and participates with residents in social activities including frequent community outings.
Instructs, supports and participates in performing household tasks with persons served such as cleaning, preparing meals, food shopping, etc.
Qualifications
Earned High School Diploma or GED from an accredited educational institution.
Valid Driver's License
Able to communicate effectively with the individuals to whom services are provided
Experience in a residential setting serving people with intellectual/developmental disabilities or with other types of special needs populations (rehabilitation settings, nursing homes, psychiatric hospitals, other behavioral health settings, etc.)
