Regular Responsible for the provision of patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary for the care of patients and the maintenance of the Operating Room under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Sets up Operating Room with needed items for patient care; gathers supplies, x-rays, instruments, etc., for cases; handles instruments during procedures. Communicates information to the RN regarding patients.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Practices and implements the technical components of patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse.
Collaborates with the RN and other healthcare professionals. to implement a plan of care that incorporates physician preferences, nursing assessments and diagnostic data in a manner that is prioritized, timely, and integrated with the plan of care.
Prepares equipment, supply and resource needs based on an individualized plan of care. Re-evaluates and modifies resource needs as needed.
Communicates accurate and timely information to the Registered Nurse regarding patients in their care.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to perform all aspects of a variety of surgical procedures. Maintains knowledge and skills to properly operate all surgical equipment and instruments. Utilizes appropriate aseptic technique when handling supplies, instruments, and equipment.
Follows laboratory policy and procedure to correctly handle and label all laboratory specimens.
Documents quality controls thoroughly and accurately according to unit specific standards.
Demonstrates competence in problem solving, conflict resolution, and team building. Serves as a resource to other team members.
Organizes and utilizes time efficiently. Demonstrates appropriate prioritization. Maintains an organized work environment.
Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Graduate of a technical program for operating room technicians

In conjunction with the Breast HealthCare Center at Missouri Baptist Medical Center, our Breast HealthCare van brings routine screening mammography services to neighborhoods across St. Louis and towns in rural Missouri. The van features two-view mammogram testing and films are examined by our board-certified, mammography-dedicated radiologists and reviewed again with a computer-aided detection system.

The Technologist, Advd Modlty Mobile brings screening mammography into the community. The mobile van travels to corporate, community and outreach locations offering screening mammograms.
Responsibilities
Prioritizes and problems solves patient care issues.
Coordinates vehicle and mammography equipment maintenance and repairs.
Performs daily quality control of mammography equipment and determines if the unit passes all safety and quality checks for clinical use.
Performs screening and diagnostic imaging procedures on the mobile van and other mammography locations

The Cardiac Cath Lab, a division of the Cardiovascular Procedure Center at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, is on the leading edge of technology. Patients have been among the first to benefit from advanced angioplasty techniques, valvuloplasty and percutaneous valve replacements. The Cardiac Cath Lab has a 97% success rate in acute interventional cases and a current rate of 100% of STEMI patients receiving emergency percutaneous cardiac intervention within 90 minutes. The Staff Nurse (RN) is an integral part of the patient care team using critical thinking skills, clinical expertise and critical care skills to continually assess the patients' hemodynamic, neurologic and respiratory response to the varied procedures performed in the lab. The Staff Nurse (RN) is responsible for administering conscious sedation to patients during these procedures as well continually assessing their level of sedation and managing their airway. The Staff Nurse (RN) always puts the patients needs first by being a patient advocate in all aspects of care.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Prepares for surgery daily by stocking operating rooms according to PAR (Periodic Automatic Replenishment) levels, checking each operating room for proper equipment for cases scheduled, and checking case carts for instrumentation needs.
+ Restocks warmers throughout the day with fluids, blankets, etc. Orders supplies from central supply/dispatch. Performs daily diagnostic testing and recording of sterilization equipment according to hospital policy and manufacturer's recommendations.
+ Restocks and cleans all anesthesia equipment used, transporting equipment and supplies to other service areas of hospital as needed.
+ Assists with the maintenance of surgery equipment by reporting malfunctions to the proper personnel.
+ Assists in maintaining unit efficiency by cleaning operating rooms between procedures, washing instruments between procedures, and flash sterilizing instruments under the direction of a certified surgical tech or registered nurse.
+ Assists with lifting and turning patients, transporting patients, and assisting in pre/post op areas and PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) as needed.
+ Exhibits excellent verbal communication skills and commitment to patient satisfaction 100% of the time. Utilizes service recovery skills by reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
+ Maintains communication with operating room director, management, anesthesiologist, CRNAs, and appropriate service representatives to ensure efficient work flow.
