Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Physician Assistant for the department of Surgery at the New Jersey Medical School.
Under the direction and supervision of a Dr. Keri Lunsford, provides health care services to patients and assist in the management of patients under clinical trial in the Division of Transplant and HPB Surgery at Rutgers NJMS. PA should have specialized knowledge and experience in organ donation, liver transplant, complications of liver transplant, and the evaluation and management of liver transplant patients both prior to and following transplantation. In addition to clinical duties, the PA will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of clinical trial records, assessment of complications occurring following clinical trial enrollment, and entry and audit of clinical data into the data management system. They will be required to undergo training and certification in clinical trial data management and human subjects research, and they will interface with clinical and research personnel.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Provides documentation for patient clinical assessment for those enrolled in liver transplant clinical trials.
Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal and ensure protocol compliance for patients enrolled in liver transplant clinical trials.
Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.
Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provisions of continuity of care for clinical trial patients.
Instructs and counsels patients regarding enrollment and consent for clinical trials in liver transplant, compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, expected clinical course prior to and following liver transplant, physical frailty, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
Provide timely data entry, management, and critical review for patient registration and tracking in clinical trial data management system. Reviews all clinical adverse events with study principal investigator or co-investigator. In conjunction with the medical staff, develops and maintains all clinical and research requirements related to regulatory agencies of the local, state, and federal governments.

Your Mission
As a Health Aide, you are on the front lines of student health on a day-to-day basis. You are responsible for student health compliance for a campus location that entails supporting the network Registered Nurse on the following functions: state-mandated screenings, maintaining 100% immunization state compliance, and maintaining accurate student health files. * Collect, review, and enter immunization records for campus students.
* Ensure all student records across the campus are compliant within the first 30 days of school and remain compliant throughout the school year.

Your Mission
As a Health Aide, you are on the front lines of student health on a day-to-day basis. You are responsible for student health compliance for a campus location that entails supporting the network Registered Nurse on the following functions: state-mandated screenings, maintaining 100% immunization state compliance, and maintaining accurate student health files. You are also responsible for promoting health education and preventative health practices for students.
You may report directly to the Campus Operations Leader at the school. You will work in close collaboration with the network Registered Nurse.
Your Responsibilities
Compliance
* Collect, review, and enter immunization records for campus students.
* Ensure all student records across the campus are compliant within the first 30 days of school and remain compliant throughout the school year.
* Compile, maintain, and file all physical and electronic reports, records, and other documents required, including clinic visits, student action plans, doctor's orders, etc.
* Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, Texas Department of Health rule, State Board of Education rule, and board policy in the health services area.
* Comply with all network campus routines and regulations.
Health Services
* Provide direct care utilizing professional triage skills, basic care, and established school health protocols.
* Manage the campus clinic independently, serving anywhere from 500 - 1500 students.
* Serve as a health advocate for students.
* Notify parents of accidents or illnesses and secure medical care for students in emergency cases.
* Coordinate management system to administer medications to students at school.
* Support with various medical needs, such as catheterization, tube feedings, tracheal care, etc.
* Establish and implement effective procedures for mandatory screening programs. Make referrals as necessary.
* Provide medical treatments and procedures according to Physicians' orders and parent authorization.
* Educate faculty and staff as needed on health-related topics.
* Report potential health and safety hazards to the campus Director of Operations.
* Request supplies and equipment needed to maintain clinic inventory.
Consultation
* Serve as a health liaison between the school, physicians, parents, and community.
* Assess student problems and make appropriate referrals, working with students, teachers, parents, and medical and health care professionals, as needed.
* Participate in health-related school committees focused on student health and wellness.
* Collaborate with other professionals regarding implementing health-related Individual Education Plan (IEP) items.
* Participate in the assessment and reporting of suspected child abuse.
* Make home visits to help with student health problems as necessary with the permission of the Principal.
* Communicate regularly with the Network Registered Nurse, Principals, Director of Operations, Director of Student Supports, school counselors, teachers, parents, food services staff, and other staff regarding health services issues.

Responsibilities:
The Part-time Instructor assumes responsibility for performance of all functions generally identified by the college as within the realms of the instructor. In addition, the instructor: Participates in planning, implementing and evaluating the teaching-learning process in the classroom, Skills Lab or clinical setting. Maintains accurate and complete course records as required by Kilgore College. Keeps abreast of current trends in education and nursing practice to improve his/her instructional ability. Maintains public relations with assigned clinical agencies to include assessing the adequacy of available clinical learning experiences. Refers students to appropriate references when indicated.
Minimum Qualifications:
Hold a current license to practice as a licensed vocational nurse or registered nurse in the state of Texas, have a minimum of 1 year of work experience in a long-term care setting, show evidence of teaching abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise and safety in subject area of teaching responsibility.
Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:
The pay will be $25/hour for an LVN or ADN, $30/hour for a BSN, $35/hour for an MSN, and $40/hour for a doctorate.
