Nature and Scope Under the direction of the Director of the Childcare Center, the Teacher Aide will be responsible for helping facilitate the day to day operations of the program. The Teacher Aide will help the teacher monitor and ensure safety and program guidelines in their classroom, provide a safe, happy, and positive environment for all children, plan and implement all activities appropriate for children ages 0-5 years, and assist with DRDP assessments as needed. The Coverage/Float Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (APP) will provide medical services in accordance to standard medical practice protocols. APP will float to all clinic sites to provide medical coverage for other providers' scheduled PTO. . The Tustin Family Campus program is an 18 month residential treatment program serving 15 mothers with up to 32 children. All residents have open Child and Family Service cases in the County of Orange. These mothers are working to reunify with their children while at the same time addressing their histories with addiction and mental health. Our treatment team works closely with Orange County Social Services, Orange County Mental Health and Family Court to ensure successful case plan completion and reunification. The Childcare Parenting Specialist will assist with the Parenting Skills Program, a family centered program, which has the goal of helping parents to provide a healthy and safe environment for their children and to maximize their children's emotional and cognitive development. Key Responsibilities The key responsibilities of the Child Care Parenting Specialist are as followed: Provide 1:1 counseling to each client, introducing behavioral approaches to child guidance. Complete clear concise and timely documentation. Facilitate regularly scheduled activities to promote mother/child bonding such as Mommy and Me Groups, story telling, music groups, arts and crafts. Facilitate Evidence Based Curriculum groups such as Nurturing Parents and Strengthening Familes. Oversee and provide guidance to mothers who are assigned to childcare duties as part of their program activities. Assist mothers in obtaining safe, quality off-site child care when required, while still in residence or exiting from the program. Assist mothers with school communications, parent teacher meetings, IEP's. Assist mothers in locating transportation to and from school as required. Participate in team and staff meetings and in-service training. Other duties as assigned. Evening and weekend hours are required. Education and Knowledge, Skills and Abilities BA degree in Human Development, Early Childhood Education, or comparable subject matter. 4 years experience in a child care setting can be substituted for the education requirement. Experience working in a residential treatment environment preferred. California Driver's License required with proof of insurance. Assists in teaching students of the Culinary Academy, on and off campus, including communicating with candidates, interviewing prospective students, teaching the curriculum, assessing students for program completion, and supporting students after program completion. Provides direct service and group facilitation for disenfranchised youth and other diverse populations. Assists with recruiting and enrollment, as needed. Exercises good judgment, remaining calm and deescalating conflict when appropriate. Assists in reviewing curriculum, planning lessons, and development of new curriculum as needed. Assists with Kneaded Bakery and Catering as needed. Uses program assessment tools and demonstrates cultural competency by effectively working with people differing in value systems, ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, language capabilities, disabilities and professionals of different disciplines, cultural background, and value systems.
