    This is a dual role encompassing both Unit Clerk and Care Partner responsibilities. Responsible for clerical duties, communication and reception duties on assigned nursing units. In addition, employee works with other members of the patient care team to deliver care to specific patient populations. Essential Functions: Participates in the delivery of patient care for population groups under the direction of an RN/LPN including but not limited to the following: Lifting, turning, and positioning patients utilizing Safe Patient Handling equipment (> 35 pounds), as appropriate. Observing confused and difficult patients AM/PM Hygiene care Toileting, shaving, washing, brushing hair, dental and mouth care Feeding Assisting with range of motion exercises Mobilizing patients - transfers and ambulation, utilizing Safe Patient Handling equipment (> 35 pounds), as appropriate and following the Mobility protocol Exercise protocols Discontinuing foley catheter Simple dressing changes Incentive spirometry supervision Surgical preps Postmortem care Administers cleansing enemas Removal of peripheral IV catheters Apply external catheter or incontinence device Sits with confused/disoriented patients or those requiring 1:1 observation for safety/suicide purposes, as assigned Performs and records accurately: Temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, heights and weights I & O Records bowel movements ADLs and activities Performs and records the following specimen collection: Obtains urine, stool, and sputum specimens for patients; instructs patients in proper specimen collection technique. Completes EKGs. Glucose monitoring in Non-Critical Care Areas Conducts bladder scanning Basic ostomy care Transports patients as needed Serves, sets up and retrieves trays Distributes water pitchers as appropriate Orders and distributes nourishment. Transports equipment Transports blood products to and from the patient care area. Participates in patient safety/patient satisfaction. Answers call bells Participates in patient rounding Reports any signs of abuse to the nursing staff Recognizes, troubleshoots and initiates corrective action needed on equipment. Maintains neat and tidy environment (empties laundry, delivers equipment, keeps patient rooms clean and safe). Inventories and assures disposition of patients' belongings when admitted, transferred, and/or discharged. Assures proper storage of equipment. Recognizes emergency situations and initiates plan of action Notifies RN/LPN of any changes seen in patient's condition Complies with policies and procedures of the hospital/nursing department. Supports the philosophy of the hospital and department of nursing. Maintains CPR certification and practice Demonstrates cost-effective patient care by demonstrating proper use and care of equipment, appropriate and prudent use of supplies, accurate charging of supplies; performing other division-specific tasks, and appropriate utilization of available resources. Participates in performance improvement activities to improve service and care. Demonstrates strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to communicate using telephones, computer systems. Answers telephone promptly and politely, identifying self, title, and department. Receives and sends messages in an accurate and timely fashion. Communicates with the patients, family, and members of the healthcare team in a concise, tactful, and considerate manner. Must represent the hospital in a professional courteous manner, while being sensitive to how others perceive both verbal and non-verbal communications. Other Duties: Assists in the orientation of new personnel and serves as a role model to other employees. Demonstrates willingness to accept non-routine work assignments as appropriate. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Cancer Center Scheduling Specialist at St. Charles Health System is responsible for scheduling appointments for medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion procedures, office visits, referrals, and diagnostic exams. Additional duties may include any or all of the following: Patient registration, information retrieval, insurance authorizations, charge capture and other duties. The Scheduling Specialist must maintain excellent customer service relations with patients, hospital staff, office staff and physicians. This position does not directly supervise any other Caregivers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Schedules inpatient/outpatient procedures and appointments as ordered by the patient's physician or authorized designee. Schedules multiple appointment types including: new patient visits, infusion/chemotherapy services, radiation therapy services, medical oncology services, physician referrals, imaging studies, blood transfusions, and other procedures. Position Overview Contacts payers to request service authorization. Collects financial and/or demographic information from patients and clinical information from patient charts, orders, or providers.     Under the general supervision of the Patient Contact Center Supervisor, the Radiology Scheduling Specialist's primary function is to utilize communication and management skills to coordinate seamless care delivery for patients. The Radiology Scheduling Specialist will also assist with scheduling of radiology exams and procedures. Additionally, they must obtain prior authorizations for all services that require authorization. The Radiology Scheduling Specialist collaborates with referral staff, medical providers, nursing staff and other patient care support staff. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsible for verifying insurance to determine eligibility. The Radiology Scheduling Specialist must obtain or verify medical authorization based on the insurance plan and ensure plan is accepted by Curry Health Network. Scan authorization information into the EHR and document appropriately in the patient's chart. Gathers pertinent information as needed via EHR or from clinical team to accurately complete scheduling and authorization process. Review details and expectations about the scheduling and authorization with patients. Notifies patient of scheduling status and provides information once the patient is scheduled. Monitors electronic health record notifications throughout the day to capture scheduling and authorization requests in real time. Tracks order information throughout the day to ensure process is complete. Provides leadership with reporting information weekly. Respond to In-house provider questions, requests, and concerns regarding the status of patient scheduling or authorization, care coordination or follow-up status. Follows radiology scheduling protocols and guidelines. Ensures that orders have been approved by technologist prior to scheduling. Works with radiology leads to ensure schedules are filled appropriately. Communicates with the patient to ensure they understand the appropriate prep instructions for the specific modality or procedure. Collaborates with radiology staff, clinical staff and other scheduling specialists to efficiently schedule patients in a timely manner. Effectively communicates with department staffing and management. Notifies internal and external providers when patients cancel, decline or unable to be contacted.
