COLORADO PARKS AND WILDLIFE (CPW)

The primary responsibility of this position is to support the Invasive Species Sampling and Monitoring Program by assisting the Early Detection & Rapid Response (EDRR) Specialist in coordinating sampling and rapid response efforts for aquatic nuisance species (ANS) throughout Colorado. Candidates will be required to perform administrative work and assist sampling crews and the ANS Laboratory. Candidates will also be required to assist with watercraft inspection and decontamination as needed. Candidates must possess the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
This position will generally report to the Invasive Species Program Office at 6060 Broadway in in Denver 8:00am to 4:30pm daily, Monday through Friday. Work hours will be strictly limited to 40 per week (overtime compensation will only be granted in special circumstances). This position may require occasional traveling Monday through Thursday
weekly including overnight camping when assisting with field monitoring.
Specific Duties:
* Perform administrative duties including scheduling sampling crews, booking campsites and accommodations, maintaining equipment, managing inventory, preparing materials for field training, and assisting with said training.
* Support the Invasive Species Program through mapping, database management, and data analysis including weekly proofing and correcting of data that is generated by field sampling crews and laboratory technicians.
* Assist field sampling crews with conducting surveys for ANS, using standardized scientific protocols, in lakes, reservoirs, streams, and rivers throughout Colorado. Specifically, sampling crews will conduct monitoring for zebra mussels, quagga mussels, New Zealand mudsnails, and Eurasian watermilfoil.
* Assist the ANS Laboratory with performing laboratory analysis on samples collected by sampling crews, using standardized scientific protocols. Specifically, this position will conduct microscopy and taxonomic identification from field samples for mollusks, crayfish, macrophytes, zooplankton, and phytoplankton.
* Assist the EDRR Specialist and Invasive Species Program Manager with any rapid response efforts that may be triggered by CPW's early detection sampling and monitoring program.
* Finally, this position works very closely with the EDRR Specialist and helps with a large variety of tasks as they arise.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be 16 years of age or older
2. Must have a current and valid driver's license required for operating a state vehicle and an acceptable driving record
3. Possess basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite)
4. Experience performing data entry
5. Willingness to be flexible with the weekday work schedule
6. Ability to travel occasionally with overnight stays including camping
7. Ability to work in and around the water
* Pursuant to the DNR-120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle.
To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who:
* Have an assigned State fleet vehicle
* Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position
* Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
1. B.S. in natural resources/botany/fisheries/wildlife or other natural resource field OR at least 1 year completed coursework toward a degree in the field
2. Experience performing administrative duties
3. Experience with customer service
4. Experience performing technical writing and editing and document management
5. Experience with zebra mussel, quagga mussel, New Zealand mudsnail, Eurasian watermilfoil, or other invasive species
6. Experience conducting biological field surveys especially with aquatics and/or water quality including performing species identification
7. Experience planning and analyzing biological field surveys and survey data
8. Experience with ArcGIS software
9. Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
10. Excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and multitask

The Community Technology Center (CTC) is the technology access and training hub for Denver Public Library and is located at the Central Library. The Community Technology Center consists of a technology classroom, two Video Conference rooms, a digital media lab and makerspace, and a large public access computing area with 100+ computers. The CTC offers a wide variety of group and individual training opportunities on topics ranging from using a mouse to 3D printing and web development. The Central Library is located in downtown Denver and welcomes a wide variety of customers of all ages and backgrounds, and the CTC strives to create an inclusive environment for people to connect with and learn about technology. In a single shift, CTC staff might help someone create their first email address or record their own song. In addition to offering technology programs at the Central Library, CTC staff also offer tech training at other DPL branches and local community organizations.

About Our Department
The Community Technology Center (CTC) is the technology access and training hub for Denver Public Library and is located at the Central Library. The Community Technology Center consists of a technology classroom, two Video Conference rooms, a digital media lab and makerspace, and a large public access computing area with 100+ computers. The CTC offers a wide variety of group and individual training opportunities on topics ranging from using a mouse to 3D printing and web development. Utilizes and interprets FAA orders, technical manuals, manufacturer's instructions, procedures and other publications as required to complete multiple and complex work assignments. Applies judgment and discretion to select the most appropriate method to complete the work assignment with a high degree of independence, keeping supervisor advised of significant problem areas, which may impact ATC operations. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of the NAS as an integrated system of the relationship of the parts to the whole and of the capabilities within the NAS to deal with unusual problems or unanticipated air traffic safety issues. Understands how assigned systems, components, and disciplines are integrated with other systems, components, and disciplines. Initiates action to install, repair, or restore systems and services, takes into account the availability of back-up systems, possible reconfigurations to minimize service interruptions, and the relative criticality of particular functions to the safe and efficient operation of the NAS.
Collaborates with system users, planners, engineers, and contractor personnel in the installation and testing of new or modified systems and in identifying needed improvements or enhancements. Develops and recommends methods of enhancing efficiency of systems through modification and application of existing or emerging technology.
May have broad automated systems and networking responsibility, providing end-to-end services to Air Traffic customers. Understands how assigned systems, components, and disciplines are integrated with other systems, components, and disciplines. Initiates actions to install, repair or restore systems and services on the availability of backup systems reconfiguration to minimize service interruptions and insure the safe and efficient operation of the NAS.
The ATSS is considered a key technical point of contact for assigned systems, programs, and projects. Contacts are made to provide technical information on multiple systems, instruct other employees, share information across organizations, provide ATC systems data, provide status briefings on system reliability, coordinate, and oversee the activities of contractors. In addition, Defense (DoD), airport management, contractors, and utility companies to resolve complex technical or engineering issues.

Overview
The IP Network Technician is responsible for supporting configuration, administration, and optimization of Viaero networks and systems to achieve high performance applications and services.
This position reports to the Director of IP Engineering and Infrastructure and is a largely independent one requiring initiative and individual responsibility.
Essential Job Functions
Support InformationTechnology and Network Operations systems and networks, helping to keep performance at optimal levels.
Help maintain the server infrastructure including hardware, software, and storage.
Schedule and implement periodic maintenance of systems hardware and software.
Suggest methods to improve areas of operations, processes, efficiency, and service to the various customers groups.
May conduct research on new technologies, hardware, and products in support of system development efforts.
Monitor and test system performance to provide performance statistics and reports for tuning and capacity planning purposes.
Document actions taken in appropriate systems and/or on appropriate tickets. Work independently
Provide IT and Networking Support to field forces, customers, and technical staff.
Provide customer IT & Networking Support
Provide on-call support and responds to service affecting outages and emergency situations.
Support Company through use of products and services and promotes (educates) community on products and services.
Make decisions based on problem solving, technical knowledge, and capabilities of systems.
Follow Company policies, procedures and all appropriate laws.
Work independently; take pride and ownership while exhibiting a willingness to learn
Be willing to interpret process and go outside the box to provide solutions

Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required. Bachelor degree in computer or electronics technology or graduate from an accredited two-year technical school with courses in Math, Basic Electronics, Networking, and/or Telecommunications is desired
High computer proficiency required. Previous telecom or ISP experience preferred
Strong PC and IP troubleshooting skills. Ability to program troubleshoot and/or perform system diagnostics on
Candidates must be able to pass pre-hire processes, including drug test, criminal background check and MVR check.
