The Work You Will Do: Electrician/Transportation Support This position will: Perform a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled technical maintenance, repair, and construction work across multiple trades, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general facility upkeep. Responsibilities include installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, equipment, and safety devices district-wide; conducting routine preventive maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems; and performing inspections to identify and resolve maintenance issues efficiently. Additional duties include obtaining quotes and purchasing materials per departmental policies, responding to maintenance work orders, coordinating and overseeing contractor work, and operating building systems such as generators, elevators, UPS, CCTV, and life safety systems. The role also involves maintaining detailed maintenance records, managing inventory of tools and supplies, training co-workers, and performing other assigned duties while traveling to various locations. Myers Fl. 33913 Anticipated Annual Salary: $55,156.66 Your Specific Responsibilities: Performs a variety of technical and non-technical trade skilled work which may include the performance of, repairing, remodeling, altering, constructing, and/or maintaining hard-wall and modular offices; carpentry, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and other general trades applicable to routine and emergency repairs and maintenance. Will be driving to various locations. Installs, maintains, alters, and repairs wiring, power appliances, light machinery and electrical circuits on equipment, buildings, highway lighting, and electrical safety devices throughout the District One area of responsibility. Operates various equipment in support of this activity, such as: bucket truck, pick-up truck. Locates and corrects power failures and short circuits. Locates and marks existing underground utilities for construction activities. Performs electrical work on deep well water pumps, sump pumps, motor generator sets, air compressors and any other electrical device on a district-wide basis. Receives, completes, and responds to general building maintenance work order requests. Maintains records, logs, correspondence, and other documents related to building maintenance and repairs as directed. Conducts periodic inventory of tools and supplies. Ensures all tools necessary to do the job are in stock and in good operating condition. Ensures mechanical and electrical equipment rooms are clean and organized at all times. Request and receive quotes and/or proposals prior to the purchase of parts, services and others supplies needed for emergency repairs, adhering to the Department policies and procedures related to the use of State purchasing card and MyFloridaMarketPlace. Serves as the dispatch for on-call emergencies after hours during nights, weekends and during emergencies. Coordinates and monitors, as directed, the contractors performing repairs/installations to all building maintenance related equipment and ensures work is performed in accordance with the established scope of work. Performs scheduled walk-through inspections for assigned facilities; inspecting operating equipment, troubleshoot if needed to identify causes and take corrective action safely, effectively, efficiently, completely and in a timely manner. The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: * Proper equipment and techniques of various maintenance tasks * Purchasing procedures * Safety procedures required in maintenance and repair work * All types of electrical installations, alterations, and repairs * National electrical codes * Tools and equipment utilized in electrical installations * Safety procedures related to electrical work Skills in: * Performing routine building maintenance work (HVAC maintenance, minor plumbing, carpentry, modular workstation reconfigurations, etc.) * Use of hand, bench, pneumatic, power, and measuring tools * Using personal computers, Microsoft Office products, and software programs associated with building maintenance activities * Performing electrical installations, alterations, and repairs according to national electrical codes * Proper and safe use of both hand and power tools * Installing, altering, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment to minimize downtime * Use of electrical tools and equipment associated with electrical installations * Using basic math * Documenting work performed and materials used on work orders Ability to: * Quantify work and determine appropriate materials/equipment to be used * Follow written and/or oral instructions * Lift 50 pounds and stoop, climb ladders, squat, push, crawl, and bend in all types of weather * Perform work tasks safely and use appropriate safety equipment * Prepare reports * Read and understand blueprints and schematic drawings * Maintain stock of commonly used materials for after-hours or emergency repairs * Take accurate measurements * Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others * Function safely and use appropriate safety equipment * Work independently * Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing Other Job-Related Requirements: * Employee will be required to be responsive to emergency situations within a very short time frame and serve in the Transportation Emergency Management Team. Due to the nature of this position, the incumbent must respond to emergencies and be "on-call" (24 hour duty) when necessary. Minimum Qualifications: * Possess a High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency and one year experience as an electrician or graduate from an accredited program. An additional year of experience as an electrician is a substitute for a High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency. Possess a valid Class E driver's license. This position requires a valid Class (E) driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Driver's Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following: * three (3) or more moving violations in the past three (3) years that accumulate three (3) or more points per violation; * any two (2) convictions of reckless driving in the past three (3) years; * a suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past three (3) years; and * a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction, in the past four (4) years.
