POSITION DESCRIPTION:
* The incumbent is responsible for providing quality professional care to the veteran residents to ensure their health, safety, and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and Nurse Practice Act. Provide initial and ongoing assessment of the resident population. Perform assigned duties to include but not limited to administration of medications and treatments per MD order, monitoring and providing interventions to meet the needs of the resident, completing accurate clinical documentation reflective of resident's status, and providing supervision and guidance to the RN, LPN, CNA, and other Allied Health Care Professionals. Works under the direct supervision of the Executive Nursing Director (DON), or designee.
* Supervise and direct nursing personnel on an assigned shift. Ensure nursing personnel follow job descriptions and the residents receive total quality nursing care. Review shift assignments and ensure that the assignments reflect the ability of the staff person to meet the specific nursing care needs of the residents. Ensure that work assignments are written, dated, and posted. Receive notices of absence when nursing staff calls off, and coordinates assignments to maintain regulatory compliance and meet the needs of the residents. Assist with coverage on the floor as needed.
* Notify the Administrator and/or DON of any emergency situations in the building. Make rounds to observe residents and determine if nursing needs are being met. Observe all nursing staff giving care at least once during an eight-hour shift. Maintain the standards of nursing care and implement the policies and procedures of the facility and nursing department. Follow all local, state, and federal rules and regulations. Comply and perform within the scope of practice as defined by the Florida Nursing Practice Act. Assist in review of policies and procedures. Ensure that reference material at the nurses' stations is current. Make recommendations to DON for improved and/or additional items. Educate subordinates as necessary.
* Ensure time sheets and payroll is done accurately and timely. Discipline staff as per FDVA policy to correct poor performance. Review and follow-up incidents and/or complaints occurring on assigned tour of duty. Complete reports and forward them to DON/RN. Ensure that all verbal orders, including telephone orders from attending physicians, are reviewed by a registerednurse. If no RN is available, receive all telephone orders from physicians. Will give Basic Life Support (CPR) when necessary.
* Assist Nursing Program Specialist in ensuring that all assessments are completed prior to the Interdisciplinary Resident Care Plan Committee meeting. Check all documentation related to assessment for those residents scheduled for Care Plans. Ensure that any incomplete documentation is finished within twenty-four (24) hours of the scheduled Care Plan Conference.
* Participate in economic utilization of supplies and ensure that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe manner. Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients such as cardiac arrest. Participate in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. Assist in census and customer satisfaction. Actively participate in continuing educational programs for self-development and in overall quality improvement programs.

Interview nursing applicants and make recommendations to supervisor as to employment potential. Maintain professional proficiency in nursing skills to be competent in responding to both medical, psychiatric and HCS interventions. Perform group or individual education and/or coaching as needed.
* SAFETY: Responsible for following all departmental facility safety guidelines and observing and complying with all policies relating to the security of residents.
* MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION/MONITORING: Responsible for 1-to-1 monitoring of nurses directly supervised on medication/ treatments at least yearly with documentation or more often as needed with corrective action plans for medication variances as required. How you will make an impact
The incumbent of this position provides age/special needs appropriate nursing care to school age student patients ranging from preschool to 22 years of age. Including assessment of student patient needs specific to their age. Nursing care is planned, interventions are performed to assure those needs are met and evaluated for effectiveness of nursing care. Communication:
Provides quality verbal and written communication with CMAT and community stakeholders to ensure understanding and engagement throughout process. Facilitates coordination in the scheduling of CMAT staffing's ensuring timely notification and engagement of necessary CMAT stakeholders including, but not limited to, core members of the CMAT team, the client's Medicaid Managed Medical Assistance (MMA) plan and Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) or their designee. Quality Improvement:
Reviews data, assessments, documentation, and staffing summaries verifying accuracy and quality. Participates in quality assurance and improvement needs. Implements documented activities identified in the Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) cycles.
Participates in training, evaluation, monitoring, and related follow-up activities to improve CMAT functions, activities, and outcomes. Provides reports from data base systems as requested by management.

Includes coverage of MFC RN duties as assigned.
Participates in MFC on-call duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to collect and organize data.
Ability to access information from computer data systems and websites.
Ability to use a computer for word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
Qualifications:
Minimum:
Associates degree or higher in nursing from an accredited college or university.
Must hold an active RegisteredNurse License in the State of Florida (F.S. Reference: 464) or Multistate RN License from another Compact State.
Must hold a valid, unrestricted Florida Driver's License and have access to personal transportation.
Preferred:
1-3 Years of pediatric nursing experience.
Able to work independently, prioritize and manage a daily schedule of activities.
Computer skills, including use of standard office machinery such as laptops, scanners, cell phones, printers and programs such as Outlook, Power Point, Excel and SharePoint.
Experience with electronic health records and data entry .
