Electrician The Electrician will assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. This is accomplished by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Troubleshooting and repairing all aspects of electrical power distribution system with utilization voltages of 480V, 4,160V and 13.8KV. Troubleshooting and repairing AC induction motors of all types, single and three phases. Utilize and become proficient with various electrical test equipment including but not limited to: VOM, insulation resistance tester, micro-ohmmeter, Motor Circuit Analyzer (MCE). Develop a working knowledge of various PLC manufactures and Control systems to assist with troubleshooting and interlock testing. Maintain a professional working relationship with multi discipline maintenance teams. Maintain proper safety awareness and follow plant safety procedures in all activities. Perform other duties as assigned or required by supervisor. Willing to work, days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Work a rotating shift schedule when needed. Must be proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, and voltmeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. Must be able to perform work wearing personnel protective equipment. Including but not limited to the following: rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air purifying respirators, safety harness, sand blast hoods, fire resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear plugs and safety glasses. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body, able to reach overhead, able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to, stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, squatting; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; work at heights; balance for extended periods of time. Function as an Apprentice Electrician, under a certified or licensed Electrician for Bergelectric Corp. assist electricians with installing new electrical systems and repairing existing electrical systems while maintaining compliance with national, state, and local electrical codes along with all Bergelectric Corp. policies and procedures. RESPONSIBILITIES Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system Install, repair, and maintain motors, transformers, generators, lights, appliances, circuits, wiring, and other electrical system equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations Study plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of repairs and/or installations Repair and maintain high voltage systems Organize work by receiving and studying work orders; gather tools and supplies Read prints, layout work, and install new service Repair electrical problems by replacing faulty parts and components Maintain electrical systems by conducting system tests; complete preventive maintenance requirements Keep supplies ready by placing orders Maintain safe work environment by following standards and procedures; comply with codes Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; read technical publications Accomplish maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels All other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED Minimum two years of related experience Trade or technical school certification/diploma Apprentice aptitude test Union specific training Project specific/Mortenson training Current driver's license Ability to speak and understand English (Spanish is a plus); some ability to read plans; shown emotional intelligence; ability to operate equipment such as table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging, and form systems Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, active listening skills, and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements * Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs. The apprentice program is a four-year commitment on the part of the apprentice and Ludvik Electric Co. The 4-year apprenticeship program includes 8000 hours of employment and on-the-job training, supplemented by the required hours of related technical instruction conducted by the Independent Electrical Contractors. Each apprentice will be placed in the level of coursework according to his/her completion of requirements and placement testing. The company pays the tuition; the apprentice purchases the necessary books and tools. The company offers payroll deductions for the books/tools purchases, so the cost can be split over a couple of paychecks.NOTE: This position has been designated as safety sensitive.
