SENIOR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM AT CHATHAM HIGH SCHOOL - Our Senior Internship Program offers seniors an opportunity to conclude their Chatham High School educational experience by participating in a four week long work experience (Mid May to Mid June, Monday - Friday 25 hours/week from 10am to 3pm) consistent with the requirements established by Chatham High School. Participants will expand their learning while working under the guidance of our staff and will be provided with a primary mentor/supervisor.
Interns may work in any of the following capacities and these will be discussed at the interview and consideration will be given to the student's area of academic and professional interest:
- observation of SLP's and/or OT's
-assist with development of materials for our therapists
-assist with a various administration duties (e.g., filing, organizing, answering phones, data entry, mailers and admin functions in preparing for our summer camp program)
-assist with a variety of marketing duties (e.g., creating social media posts, filming portions of sessions)
-assist with Human Resources duties (e.g., candidate sourcing for HR database and various administrative projects)
Intern Responsibilities (set forth by Chatham High School):
Each intern represents Chatham High School when engaging in the internship experience.
Communicate with your mentor consistently. If the intern is unsure what to do, how to do something, responsibilities they may have- they must communicate with their mentor
Cell phones must be away at all times.
Interns must exhibit a willingness to learn and a motivation to do their best to contribute to the business/agency.
Interns must dress professionally for the work environment (interns should never expose their stomach at a workplace).
Interns must exhibit a willingness to learn and motivation to do their best to contribute to the business/agency.
Interns must be on time and work 100 hours over the course of 4 weeks (25hrs per week as a goal).
Interns can have a maximum of 2 absences and must communicate with the mentor if they are to be absent.

Intern must be checking email regularly and be prepared for the Internship Coordinator to visit.

WHAT YOU NEED
Currently enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology or nursing program, or a program actively seeking accreditation; this program is only for students, not future veterinarians or veterinary assistants
Enrolled in a course that requires externship hours or skills
Able to start the program within six months of application
Current rabies vaccination or titer required
Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor as well as ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and able to support up to 40 kg with assistance
Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
Work well in a fast-paced environment with people from all backgrounds and different personality types

Key Responsibilities:
Working with the Clinical Operations team on assigned tasks such as:
eTMF and Document Management
Perform quality control checks on electronic Trial Master Files
Assist in compiling and reviewing essential document packets required to activate new clinical sites
Classify and tag uncategorized documents for audit preparedness
Provide support and become a key point of contact for contract and budget tracking related activities
Site Management and Monitoring Support
Assist the clinical trial execution team in monitoring trip report review
Assess site and master level Informed Consent documents to ensure compliance with company SOPs

Process Improvement and Departmental Initiatives
Optimize, maintain, and innovate trackers and tools utilized by the clinical operations team
Collate documents related to SOPs and training
Support ongoing initiatives to gather historical information on study specifics to develop a comprehensive and accurate database
Develop an understanding and knowledge of GCP and industry clinical operations standards
Preparation of department minutes

The anticipated hourly rate for this position will be $20.00 to $25.00 per hour. At VEG we find a way to say yes to helping future veterinary technicians grow into their potential. Our Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program offers a hands-on, immersive experience in emergency medicine alongside our credentialed emergency veterinary technicians.
You won't just observe-you'll engage. You'll get close to the action, ask questions, try new techniques, and explore everything that excites you about life in the ER. From patient triage to diagnostics to inpatient care, you'll gain exposure to what emergency medicine is really like-and explore whether it's the future you want to chase. This is your chance to build a strong foundation, get inspired, and be a part of something bigger.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
* Learn from the top emergency veterinary professionals in the business.
* Pair up with an emergency credentialed veterinary technician for real-time mentoring and on-the-floor learning
* Shadow and assist with triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, inpatient care, and more
* Practice skills required by your school's proficiency checklist with mentorship and guidance
* Experience the teamwork, pace, and heart that defines emergency care at VEG
* Explore whether or not being an ER superhero is what you want to do next
WHAT YOU NEED
* Currently enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology or nursing program, or a program actively seeking accreditation; this program is only for students, not future veterinarians or veterinary assistants
* Enrolled in a course that requires externship hours or skills
* Able to start the program within six months of application
* Current rabies vaccination or titer required
* Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor as well as ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and able to support up to 40 kg with assistance
* Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
* Work well in a fast-paced environment with people from all backgrounds and different personality types
