Job Type: Part time To advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this position is focused on learning the basics of college campus ministry. This position is limited to students who are currently enrolled in a four-year or community college. Second year students and students enrolled at a community college may intern at a two-year/community college. Third year students and higher can work at a four-year or community college. Non-InterVarsity students who attend a Christian college must have third or fourth year standing. The internship has a target start date of 08/01/2026, contingent on raising ministry support, beginning in March 2026. About the Organization The Children's Law Center (CLC) is a non-profit legal services organization that represents children in custody, visitation, guardianship, paternity, family offense, and related child protective (abuse or neglect) proceedings in the Family Courts and the Integrated Domestic Violence Parts of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, and in appeals therefrom. INTERNSHIP SUMMARY AFC's Summer Law Student Intern Program operates as a clinical model, where interns meet weekly for training sessions to learn about relevant law, regulations, cases, and trial skills. Interns have the opportunity to work on tasks in the areas of direct service, litigation, legal research, policy, and the development of public-facing resources, depending on the organization's current needs. Interns are also able to work with a variety of teams across the office to see the full scope of AFC's work. Prepare documents and briefs related to impartial hearings, which are the administrative hearings for special education cases. This may include legal research, opening statements, direct and cross examination of witnesses, and closing arguments. Assist attorneys with impact litigation and policy reform initiatives. AFC's policy reform efforts focus on the needs of students most at risk of academic failure, including students in the child welfare and juvenile/criminal legal systems; immigrant students and English Language Learners; students in temporary housing; and students with special education needs. The NDSS and Wediko Internship Program is a specialized program funded by the Department of Education's Learning to Work Program. The purpose of this program is to promote independence and work skills while cultivating a personal and professional sense of responsibility. The application process mirrors that of a real-world job. Interns will be required to meet in-school grade, behavior, punctuality, and attendance expectations. Teachers will be asked for recommendations before the student is hired. Interns will also be required to spend a portion of their time on career-readiness activities in LTW seminars. Students who complete the internship will receive a certificate and letter of reference from Wediko for future job opportunities. Out-of-school internships will take place in community business/organizations outside of school hours, and work will be supervised by Wediko's Internship Coordinator, who will conduct regular site visits. It is the responsibility of the intern to arrive to work on time, perform their job to the best of their ability and with professionalism, and report any concerns to the Internship Coordinator. Remote internships will consist of assisting school and Wediko staff with administrative tasks, co-facilitating activities, collaborating with staff around school events and initiatives, and other tasks. $16.50 per hour is offered. Student Academic Support Interns The GK School Program Intern will provide valuable support to our high school or middle school programs on-site. The intern will assist in administrative tasks and contribute to the planning and co-facilitation of activities for students. Interns are also expected to engage students in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) practices.
