What you can expect in this position: Under the direction of the Manager/Supervisor, performs assigned tasks and/or projects related to the area-specific internship. The Versiti Registered Nurse Internship will provide an overview in both of our highly specialized nursing segments. This internship provides the chance to explore our Organ Procurement Organization and Tissue Bank as well as the Therapeutic Apheresis Services we provide to our patients. In the Organ Procurement/Tissue Bank, interns rotate through the various areas to understand the full process of organ and tissue donation. This internship provides the opportunity to work with our educators, surgical techs, various coordinators and finally, work with our nurses. This program allows the opportunity to work closely with the Organ Donation Specialists (RN) in area hospitals learning donor management, procedures and protocols. In the Therapeutic Apheresis Services rotation, interns will learn about providing mobile apheresis services, which includes: therapeutic plasma exchange, red blood exchange and cellular therapy product collections. This program provides the opportunity to work closely with an Apheresis Nurse in area hospitals. We believe this opportunity will provide practical experience in areas of nursing that are learned specifically at Versiti. It is important to understand the various paths outside of the traditional hospital setting and the specializations offered after obtaining your nursing degree.
