ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following: * Conduct research on issues animating Japanese politics, U.S.-Japan relations and U.S. policy in the Indo-Pacific * Draft research memos, presentations, reports, event summaries and other materials for program staff * Provide logistical and administrative support for program events and research projects * Perform other general tasks to support office functions KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE: * Must be at least a college junior, graduate student, or recent graduate in Japan studies, International Affairs, or Political Science with a demonstrated interest in the Indo-Pacific region * At least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) from an accredited U.S. institution or equivalent from a non-U.S. institution * Eligible to work in the United States * Strong communication, research, and writing skills * Familiarity with Japanese foreign/defense policy and U.S.-Japan relations * Ability to conduct research using Japanese original sources * Ability to work independently and within a team * Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects under tight deadlines PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS: The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee working in an office environment. Your role at BHSN: As an Intern at BHSN, you will get hands-on mental health experience by providing engagement and support in the community and/or office setting as a member of our clinical team. You will assist with risk assessments, brief interventions, clinical interventions, group services, support post crisis or post appointment while providing excellent patient care and compassion at every encounter. Assigned clinical programs may include, and are not limited to, outpatient behavioral health clinics, school-based services, crisis services, substance abuse services, and rehabilitative programs. What your day might look like: Providing support and care to those engaged in services or treatment Providing evidenced based interventions, developing and assisting with adherence to safety plans Understanding Crisis Team policy and procedure manual, Agency and regulatory policies and procedures. Participating in the writing and timely completion of any required documentation in accordance with state/federal regulations and agency policies and procedures Participating in care planning and coordination meetings to facilitate care process. As assigned, seeing individuals who are an immediate crisis to curtail emergency visits and/or inpatient admissions. Additional duties as assigned. Your skills & qualifications: Mental Health and/or Social Work Masters program student. Extensive knowledge with PC applications and electronic medical records strongly preferred. Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation required for local and regional travel.
