StudentWorker - Rural Peer Mentor
As Needed, 1st and 2nd shift
Allen College seeks to hire a rural peer mentor. The Rural Peer Mentor reports to the Community Outreach Coordinator. Rural Peer Mentors will assist with both on- and off-campus recruitment events that target rural students. Mentors may also help prospective, newly admitted and current rural students by providing support and answering questions as they navigate the transition to college and beyond.
In compliance with the Clery Act, Allen College publishes an Annual Security report containing three previous years of crime statistics, institutional policies concerning campus safety, and a fire safety report. The report is available at ASR Report 2025. A paper copy is available upon request

Responsibilities
Check Allen College email daily for new opportunities from the Community Outreach Coordinator and communication from students and respond as appropriate.
Meet individually with incoming and current rural students to provide peer support.
Be punctual for all activities mutually agreed upon. The Community Outreach Coordinator and/or individual students must be notified if events cannot be attended or appointments must be canceled.
Complete and submit timesheets by assigned dates.
Be a role model.
Assist the Community Outreach Coordinator at on- and off-campus recruitment events and be willing to share personal experiences as a rural student at Allen College. Most events and work will be conducted during normal business hours Monday-Friday but some evening and weekend commitments may arise.
With supervisory assistance, adhere to all college travel policies and documentation.
Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, goals and core values of Allen College.
Demonstrate the UnityPoint Health FOCUS Values and Standards of Behaviors and adhere to policies, procedures and guidelines.
Work effectively within the daily mental and physical stresses of the job, which include but are not limited to, meeting with students, attending recruitment events, and working with the public, students, faculty and staff.
Qualifications
Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at Allen College, completed at least one semester and in good academic standing.

Summary: Involves daily tasks to care for wrestling facilities and ensure a hygienic environment. Maintain a clean wrestling surface by mopping mats with a sanitizing solution and dry mopping as needed. Laundry will be done daily to provide clean practice and competition gear for the team. Other work may include assisting in meet day operations, including preparation for competition and travel, and assisting in maintaining records of stats, matches, and other information useful to the team.
Essential Job Duties:
* Clean wrestling mat with sanitizing solution and a clean mop head before and after each practice
* Ensures that the team's practice clothes are washed, dried, and ready for use the next day
* Washes the team's competition gear after each competition
* Organizes cleaning materials and washes mop heads after each use
Abilities:

* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Job Overview:
The autonomous nature of the Licensed Clinician role lets clinicians function like a private practice without the hassle of managing a back office.
Ability to work within a 40-hour work week! The majority of your time will be clinically focused, with the remainder focused on patient documentation and facility correspondence
You would be an on-site clinical provider working with residents and their families.
Function as an active, lead member on an interdisciplinary team of physicians and nurse practitioners addressing residents' emotional, social, and psychological needs.

Key Requirements:
We're looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit accompanied by strong medical knowledge, understanding of documentation (CMS, Medicare, Medicaid) and nursing home/ hospital facility experience.
Have a master's degree and a valid LISW/LMFT/LMHC license in the state for which you are applying.
Two years of counseling and therapy experience

High level of organization to manage patient needs, document effectively and ensure the mental health needs of residents are being met
Comfortable with the ever-changing environment of a skilled nursing facility

Knowledge of the Medicare Benefit and commercial insurance plans
Experience in the healthcare setting
