What You Will Do:
* Checks NPO status with Nursing utilizing Server Round Sheets. Checks for new admissions and/or diet changes. Conducts introduction rounds while collecting and completing menus with patients prior to each meal. Enters meal orders and delivers trays from holding cart on a continuous basis (follows scripting). Reads menus to patients as necessary. Communicates with nursing and dietitians regarding special patient needs/concerns. Checks unit floor supplies. Creates floor supply list based on par levels.
* Organizes and cleans patient refrigerators, discarding any outdated or opened items, non-patient food and any items without a label. Reports pertinent information to the Diet Office Operators.
* Collects dirty trays from assigned units. Checks nursing units for soiled carts. Brings carts to the dishroom. Documents intake of fluids, carbohydrates, and calorie counts. Breaks down dirty trays to be washed.
* Assembles and delivers floor stock orders for the assigned unit.
Follows food safety and sanitation guidelines including:
* Delivers meals in a timely fashion. Monitors and reports delays in service. Insures that all trays are covered prior to delivery to patient's room. Carefully pours hot beverages as trays are delivered.
* Cleans unit kitchen, including refrigerator/freezer, and microwave.
* Insures all items are properly wrapped, labeled, and dated.
* Practices frequent hand washing after handling soiled or contaminated items.
* Follows isolation precautions on patient doors; uses appropriate protective equipment.
* Coordinates menus with patients` families when they cannot participate in room service.
What You Will Need:
* Ability to read and write small letters and numbers.
* Ability to communicate and understand written and oral communication.
* Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
* Ability to lift 30 pounds and be mobile.
* Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.

Set up and serve meals for patients, cafeteria and catering. Ware washing. Maintain cleaning and sanitation standards for kitchen, cafeteria and catering.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Patient Food Service
Pull cold items for patient meal service per tally and setup on patient trayline
Set up hot food on patient trayline
Serve hot and cold foods per meal ticket selections and per serving standards
Transport patient trays to wings/pavilions for delivery by clinical staff
Prepare and deliver late trays
Breakdown patient trayline after meal service; work with cook to manage leftovers
Wash pots/pans from serving line; clean and sanitize trayline equipment
At designated times, pick up carts with dirty trays from meal service
Wash patient dishes
Follow guidelines for trash, dirty linen and recyclable collection
Sweep and mop floors
Accurately complete all documentation as specified
Provide backup for menu aide, if trained, for preparation and completion of menus and tallies
Menu Aide (if specified)
Accurately maintain dietary patient census, assure correct menu for diet order
Interact with patients and families in the daily selection of menu choices
Accurately tally patient menu selections for hot and cold foods
Catering Service
Set up and break down catering events as assigned
Cafeteria Service
Set up cafeteria line with food/beverages and supplies for meal service needs
Serve in cafeteria according to portion and service standards
Operate POS system; reconcile cash drawer
Clean and sanitize cafeteria serving areas, tables and chairs
Miscellaneous
Answer phone per protocol and make simple diet changes as indicated
Other duties and functions as assigned based upon patient, team and agency needs
SUCCESS CAPABILITIES:
Must be able to read, write and carry out instructions
Minimum of one year healthcare food service experience preferred
Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration

Responsible for meal service, assisting in preparation of food, care and cleaning of food service equipment, setting up trays and dining room tables.
Ability to ensure the delivery of meals and customer service for a positive dining experience. Follow all applicable policies and procedures as well as current federal, states and local guidelines and regulations that govern long-term care.
Previous experience working in a dietary department is required preferably in a healthcare setting.
