Develop expertise in automation and calculation of load following and cycling behavior at microgrid sites to correlate with system degradation Develop a fault management knowledge database with search capability to optimize fault information. Develop capability to track the effectiveness of product reliability to support system & field reliability decisions working together with other reliability engineers on the team. Identify opportunities for automation within reliability & test processes. Automate reliability & functional tests using scripts that automatically test functionality. Install applications and databases relevant to automation. Gather requirements from cross functional teams to develop the best automation solutions. Design, develop and document the reliability test automation framework. Develop and expand existing Automation framework with open source tools. Skills and Education: 6+ years of experience working on automation for systems. Proficiency in Python, scripting, build and test software/tools. BS/MS in a technical field with data science, AI and ML competence Desired technical degrees in computer engineering. Experience with project management and independently manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and maintaining a strong attention to detail. Passion for building automation environment. Location: This position will be fully Onsite based in San Jose, CA Role and Responsibilities: Lead efforts for effective root-cause analyses for field return solid oxide fuel cell products to drive reliability improvement. Lead reliability testing of solid oxide fuel cell products for continuous improvement. Gather and validate data from multiple databases using Python, SQL or other methods to complete analyses on performance, reliability and degradation for Bloom Energy fuel cell systems. Work with others in Quality, Product Development, Field Service and Remote Monitoring to gather and analyze information to support root cause and corrective actions of product failures and other operational incidents. Support efforts to improve data collection and databases for effective and efficient analysis. Develop methods to automate repeated analyses to allow for effective and efficient monitoring of fleet performance and reliability metrics. Track progress in reducing the cost of poor quality issues to our business. Develop reliability block diagram and Monte Carlo simulations and provide data to Product development, Service, Marketing, Finance and others to support predictions of service replacements and costs associated with supporting Bloom Energy fuel cell products. Organize data input into Excel and JMP statistical analysis package to complete critical reliability analyses. Are you ready to take on the challenge to help us build the future? **Responsibilities** + Oversees engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring and inspecting equipment, and reviewing grid technologies, building relationships to facilitate cross-functional knowledge transfer of related work groups + Leads the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders + Collaborate and lead with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless development, integration and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies + Assists in a variety of engineering and business initiatives and grid strategies, including development of innovative procedures and design recommendations + Provides support for new equipment installation and startup, then leads the hand over processes to the ramp and sustaining phases + Leads junior engineers in investigation of threats on the distribution system infrastructure based on observations and findings + Gathers and correlates basic data using engineering studies and procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems + Facilitates training and professional development opportunities for engineering team members to enhance their skills and knowledge + A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity. **Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field. + Seven or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments. + Possess a valid Class C Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field. + Working knowledge in developing distribution, subtransmission, and/or transmission protection settings. + Licensed Professional Engineer. + Experience with advanced protection schemes such as Open Phase Detection, High Impedance Fault Detection, Process Bus (IEC 61850) Applications + Experience in developing and/or maintaining Utility Design and Construction Standards. Additional Information + This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
