Department Overview
The PD Software team is responsible for the data pipeline and tools required by our service teams to manage and maintain all the Bloom systems located in the field. This includes the ability to monitor systems in real-time, control them, capture telemetry and manage the processing pipelines that this telemetry is used for. This continuous flow of data, the corresponding analysis by experts and the feedback to improve the lifetime of the systems plays a vital role in Bloom's strategy of providing clean, affordable energy where it's needed.
Position Responsibilities
Learn and understand various aspects of the software stack - from tools to languages and technologies
Put together automation suites to test various scenarios in which different parts of the software system operate
Use these suites to validate functionality and improve the overall quality of deployed software
Report findings in an automated manner into a reporting system
Minimum Qualifications
Currently a student earning a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
Must be graduating between spring 2026 and August 2027
Desired Qualifications
Strong proficiency in Python programming. Knowledge of C#, typescript or golang is a plus.
Familiarity with Python (or other) software testing frameworks (e.g., PyTest, unittest).
Understanding of Git, GitHub workflows, and GitHub Actions.
Basic knowledge of Docker and containerized environments.
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native concepts.
Understanding of CANbus communication and its role in embedded systems.
Awareness of software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles.
Basic understanding of software security concepts.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment.
Knowledge of test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD).
Some familiarity with static code analysis and security scanning tools.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

Job Description:
Develop automated design failure modes & effects analysis (DFMEA) tool.
Automate reliability program plan for new products.
Develop expertise in automation and calculation of load following and cycling behavior at microgrid sites to correlate with system degradation
Develop a fault management knowledge database with search capability to optimize fault information.
Develop capability to track the effectiveness of product reliability to support system & field reliability decisions working together with other reliability engineers on the team.
Identify opportunities for automation within reliability & test processes.
Automate reliability & functional tests using scripts that automatically test functionality.
Automate reliability modeling process in collaboration with cross functional teams.
Collaborate cross functionally to understand how automation can improve test workflow.
Gather requirements from hardware & software teams to develop the best automation solutions.
Reliability test equipment monitoring & reporting automation.
Develop automated control scripts to accelerate stress tests where applicable.
Build SW to automate & transform the current test & field infrastructure analytical data pipeline, calculating & reporting reliability on actual systems against allocated goals.
Install applications and databases relevant to automation. Gather requirements from cross functional teams to develop the best automation solutions.
Design, develop and document the reliability test automation framework.

Skills and Education:
6+ years of experience working on automation for systems.

Responsibilities
* Using software engineering principles, build and deploy scalable, full-stack enterprise applications (using React, Angular, Node.js, Python, and Express, deployed on Azure, or GCP cloud platforms), mobile applications (using iOS Swift, React Native etc.) and low-code / no-code tools such as Power Platform.
* Lead the design and implementation of AI-integrated solutions using technologies such as Azure OpenAI, Copilot Studio, and RAG architectures to build LLM-powered agents, voice-to-text, image-to-text capabilities and custom machine learning models.
* Provide strategic technical guidance and define the technical vision for multiple product teams, aligning with enterprise architecture and driving consensus on complex technical decisions using software engineering principles.
* Mentor and coach junior and senior developers through code reviews, pair programming, and continuous learning initiatives, promoting best practices in GitHub, CI/CD, and secure coding.
* Promote AI adoption across the organization by identifying opportunities, conducting POCs, and integrating AI into SDLC, product management, and operations workflows using tools like Copilot and Power Platform AI.

+ Coordination of distribution commodities as a lead representative for Distribution Engineering, including the prioritization, organization, and distribution of project and task work.
+ Engage in the development and implementation of tracking mechanisms with a focus on delivering key results and maximizing information from lessons learned.
+ Develop and present training materials to support capital scoping, tool enhancements, and process improvements.
+ Act as a lead spokesperson on behalf of Distribution Engineering to consult for cross functional process and tool enhancements.

**Responsibilities**
+ Oversees engineers performing diagnostics, monitoring and inspecting equipment, and reviewing grid technologies, building relationships to facilitate cross-functional knowledge transfer of related work groups
+ Leads the preparation of technical reports, presentations, and other documentation to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders
+ Collaborate and lead with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless development, integration and implementation of future technologies and asset performance management strategies
+ Assists in a variety of engineering and business initiatives and grid strategies, including development of innovative procedures and design recommendations
+ Provides support for new equipment installation and startup, then leads the hand over processes to the ramp and sustaining phases
+ Leads junior engineers in investigation of threats on the distribution system infrastructure based on observations and findings
+ Gathers and correlates basic data using engineering studies and procedures, which may include routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems
+ Facilitates training and professional development opportunities for engineering team members to enhance their skills and knowledge

**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
+ Seven or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
+ Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience as an Engineer or Power System Planner in an electric utility with distribution system planning or distribution operations focused experience. Y/N
+ Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Masters in related engineering field.Y/N
+ Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively and collaborate with internal customers, peers, and senior management to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in.
+ Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or the ability to obtain licensure.

+ The position's work mode is remote. Employee is able to work primarily at home or remote however, the employee may be expected to come to an SCE facility on occasion.
