This responsibility includes directing craftspeople and subcontractors; providing quality control; assuring conformity to plans and specifications; maintaining sequences to meet schedule; maintaining short and long-term production schedules; conducting weekly job site coordination and safety meetings; scheduling equipment furnished by Nabholz; and administering job site safety program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Safety: Continual enforcement of safety rules and regulations, inspecting our self-performed work as well as all work performed, and observe methods and procedures of craft workers. Elimination of unsafe work practices and making corrections when needed. Comply with company policies and OSHA standards and be aware of any updates to these standards. Quality Control: Maintain excellent quality on projects from the beginning of the project, inspecting all work that is being done from start to finish of project. Maintain and do thorough worklist prior to punch-list. Plan and supervise foreman and/or craft workers - includes determining method of construction, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, temporary power sources, work schedule, and documenting actual hours worked. Coordinate assigned work with work of different crafts, company departments, or other contractors. Maintain liaison with owner, engineers, and project manager to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule. Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work sequences, etc.) as required. Maintain communications with Employee Services to resolve disputes, post all required materials in jobsite trailer, requisition manpower, safety issues, or visits, etc. as necessary. Monitor craft compliance with project safety and contract requirements; document and ensure corrective measures are implemented. Maintain liaison with subcontractors and other departments to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support craft activities and project schedule. Perform additional assignments per General Superintendent's direction. This job is safety sensitive for medical marijuana purposes. All other tasks as assigned. Education/Skill Requirements: Experience in underground utilities including water, sewer, and storm drainage installation, treatment plants, directional and/or auger boring, and general civil construction methods preferred. Experience requirements include a four-year degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience. Experience in construction methods, equipment, tools, and work procedures required. Advanced understanding of construction scheduling, cost control, and ability to control and supervise large groups essential. Must be able to lift 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, walk, bend, carry, pull, push, climb, and grasp. Must be able to read plans, judge distances, understand others, and be easily understood by others. Must have the visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle. Physical Demands: Ability to continuously sit, stand, or walk. Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently. Ability to work in heat or cold, work outside, and work in high elevations. May lift and carry heavy objects 5 -25 pounds frequently, 25- 50 pounds often, and 50-100 pounds occasionally. Some jobs expose workers to harmful materials or chemicals, fumes, odors, loud noise, or dangerous machinery. Oversees the terms and conditions of construction contracts. Apportions work among employees and subcontractors according to project needs and coordinates work so that it maintains a smooth flow among the various trades. Introduces new trades to the projects as the project requires them and collaborates with management of the various trades to ensure the work is carried out in a manner consistent with the project plans and specifications. Provides a safe work environment through creating a culture of safety for the project and holding each individual on the project accountable for safe behavior. Regularly holds safety meetings and makes sure that the company's safety policies are being enforced. Works as a liaison to the owner and coordinates plans and construction activities with the owner. Sources material suppliers for consumables required to construct the project and estimates materials required for specific jobs. Orders materials and coordinates deliveries of materials to coincide with construction progress. Ensures that the materials for construction are on the project site as they are required and are stored in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations. Coordinates materials staging are as between the various trades and monitors material deliveries. Maintains inventory and control over the projects tools, materials, equipment, and security. Writes and maintains a project's daily record in detail through daily reports. Communicates those reports to the office on a daily basis. Holds, at minimum, weekly coordination meetings between all subcontractors who are currently on site and any that will be on site in the near future. Coordinates work flows, safety, environmental concerns, manpower requirements, materials requirements and overall schedule through these meetings. Is responsible for the overall project schedule. Writes and maintains short term interval schedules for the use and review of all trades on the project. Included are all phases of work that are current and applicable. Maintains overall project schedule through implementation of the short term interval schedule. Is responsible for quality control on the project: holds all works accountable for adherence to the project plans and specifications. Holds pre-installations meetings to review installation procedures for all major materials used and has a thorough understanding of the project specifications and industry standards for installation of all materials to be used. Pre-installation meetings include manufacturers representatives, required design team members, affect ed subcontractors, and if necessary the owners representative. Assures that the work adheres to the project plans, specifications, codes, and other governmental agencies requirements. Coordinates inspections and insures that testing is being performed per the contract documents. Maintains project budget through management of all labor associated with the project. Tracks and monitors the labor force for productivity . Manages company and rental equipment for maximum productivity and minimum cost. Keeps accurate record of time for employees, accurately codes the time to the tasks completed and reports time to the office in a timely manner. Coordinates and facilitates the closeout of the project. Is responsible to assure that all punch list items are completed in a timely manner and that the own er is satisfied with both the quality and timeliness of the project as it is completed. Maintains a good relationship with the project manager and works as a team to complete the project. Act as a mentor for subordinates and regularly reviews their performance and makes recommendations for improvements and wage adjustments. Manage the performance of day-to-day operational activities including, but not limited to, perform MSHA regulated Workplace exams, pre-shift equipment inspections, validating personnel labor hours, reporting equipment usage hours, reporting plant production, ensuring pit and/or plant operational efficiency, planning and supervising the duties of the labor force, facility and roadway maintenance, product quality control and continuous production improvement. Lead weekly safety toolbox discussions with employees over pertinent safety topics applicable to the task, location or equipment / plant hazards inherent to the operation. Follow all company policies Qualifications Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check. 3+ years' supervisory experience in aggregate mining operations with a general understanding of blasting, crushers, screens, conveyors, and associated processing equipment. Experience with quality control procedures and sufficient understanding of the process changes required to obtain and sustain product gradations. Must maintain a safe driving record and have a valid driver's license. CDL a plus. Flexibility to work various schedules although typically day shift will be required. Strong work ethic; excellent leadership, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Will be required to complete MSHA certification. General working knowledge of iPad and iPhone applications and functionality. Basic Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook skills. Good math skills including ability to figure stockpile volumes, conveyor belt speeds, sheave speeds, etc. Good mechanical aptitude. Ability to work near, around or on light or heavy equipment.
