The Registrar II receives, coordinates, and implements the initial patient experience by providing registration tasks. While ensuring patient satisfaction, the Registrar II will maintain registration and accurately collect patient liability for emergency room services, while adhering to EMTALA guidelines. The Registrar II will additionally act as an Emergency Services Secretary. This role provides clerical support/assistance to providers and nursing staff, effectively communicating, multi-tasking, and is proficient on all emergency room processes. Individuals serving in the registration and secretary roles are responsible for providing excellent customer service to our patients, visitors and staff while maintaining confidentiality of our patients PHI. Duties & Responsibilities Accurately complete registration for each patient. Accurately explains/educates patients on forms and potential patient financial responsibility. Collect patient liability for emergency services rendered including but not limited to co-pays, deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses. Effectively maintain the secretary's desk. Organize patient charts. Ensure documentation is maintained for all alerts called in the ED. Serve as a patient liaison, via phone, during times that visitors are not permitted in the ED. Complete admission documentation on patients transitioning to OBS or IP status. Qualifications High School graduate or GED. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
