Headend Engineer I
This position will assist in troubleshooting, support and maintenance of network elements and connections required to support Broadband networks. Work to provide enterprise-wide tiered support on converged distribution and access network elements and connections as needed. May provide support for moderate services and other products.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
• Moderate knowledge of RF and IP technologies, HFC design, as well as optical test equipment (such as OTDR, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, Fiber Light Identifier, Optical Fiber Scope and Optical Power Meter).
• Fundamental knowledge of Video Networking, IP, FTTH, and DOCSIS. DOCSIS 3.1 deployment experience.
• Expertise to consistently make various industry cable connections in tight spaces by bending, reaching, twisting as well as work with small components and wires to make cable connections.
• Proficient experience in support of network configurations/protocols
• Knowledgeable in AC / DC electrical powering, maintenance, and design. Knowledge applicable to battery strings and back-up generators.
• Working knowledge of Windows-based Personal Computers including experience with Windows based applications including Microsoft Office suite products, CADD, and Internet.
• Skill in using small hand and power tools.
• Required ability to read maps, complete documentation, inspect, install, and repair materials and equipment.
• Ability to communicate in person and by telephone.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts and be on-call as needed.
The successful Headend Engineer has:
· High school degree or GED equivalent is required or Post-high school education preferred.
· CompTIA Certificates
· General experience of CATV, Broadband or Networking experience
· Under moderate supervision, responsible for the delivery of high quality off-air, satellite, microwave, and digital transport programming up to the outside plant
(point of demarcation from ISP facilities) utilizing, maintaining and installing a variety of optical and electrical interfaces including but not limited to coaxial cable, microwave, fiber optic transmission, CAT 6, and other ISP technologies. This includes the installation, construction, operation and repair, with root cause analysis of all equipment associated with the Headend.
· Transact HE and facility Technical Quality Assurance (TQA) inspections; Ensure all cabling, equipment installation, power and cooling follows company standards. Implement approved methods of procedure.
· Troubleshoot communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols.
· Setup and operate legacy headend equipment including but not limited to signal processors, modulators, demodulators, IRD's and IRT's
· Responsible for analog and digital channel level measurement and quality testing along with periodically testing equipment and quality of signal throughout the network.
· Install, maintain, and perform testing and required documentation of emergency alert systems.
· Maintain required logs, records and other documentation in compliance with company and FCC (Federal Communications Commission) technical requirements.
· Support and maintain protocol compatibility standards, develop and implement network enhancements.
· Work on projects / systems / issues of moderate to medium complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization.
· Execute network problem resolution and all required HE Proof of Performance Tests as needed. Also perform all daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly testing and logging.

Job Description
We're looking for a highly skilled AWS DevOps Full-Stack Engineer with expertise in IaC (Terraform), Helm, MySQL, Kubernetes, and CI/CD Pipelines. You will play a key role in building, maintaining, securing and deploying scalable cloud infrastructure and systems.
Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure
* Automate deployment, scaling and monitoring of systems on that infrastructure
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement CI/CD pipelines
* Build and manage containerized applications
* Provision and support configuration of relational databases with an emphasis on high availability, security and reliability
* Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance and reliability
* Contribute to the creation and operation of robust disaster recovery and backup strategies
* Manage developer tooling
* Ensure compliance with regulatory, compliance and security frameworks
* (Optionally) develop and support full stack Java-based applications
Required Skills:

Target Base Salary Range: $140,000 USD - $160,000 USD

What You'll Do
We are experiencing tremendous growth and have an immediate need for a creative, collaborative, self-motivated Pre-Sales Network Systems Engineer to partner with our Account teams to provide pre-sales technical systems engineering support for our enterprise customers in the Minneapolis area.
The Systems Engineer is a critical component of the Arista Sales team with the key responsibility of acting as a trusted advisor for our customers to gather requirements and identify opportunities with existing and new customers.

* You will conduct Arista product presentations of Arista's Open Networking Data Center and Cognitive Campus (including WIFI) networking solutions, CloudVision (Network Automation), Security (Network Detection), Endpoint Security and Real-time Fabric Monitoring solutions.
* You will OWN the pre-sales and post-sales technical relationship with the assigned customers and channel partners
* Build and maintain a deep, sound knowledge of all Arista technologies, in order to support and help in the enablement of channel partner engineers and customers' engineers and architects
* Execute technical Quarterly Business Reviews with customer base
* Support onsite requirements at the customer site
* Facilitate technical training on Arista's products, differentiators, solutions, and demos
* You will architect, design and propose Arista Data Center & Campus network solutions using leaf-spine architectures (VxLAN, EVPN) and network overlays to capture additional sales.
* Perform hands-on testing to validate customer proof-of-concept setups, Data Center and/or Campus network designs, and network deployments using new products and features.
* Put together design guidelines and recommend improvements to customers for the networks they support
* Partner with Sales Team to respond to RFP/RFQs
* Author feature requests, business justifications, and provide feedback to the Product Management, Hardware Development and Software Development organizations
* Represent Arista at industry events and conferences, including potential speaking roles.
* Present technical content to worldwide organizations both virtually and in-person
* Create technical marketing materials for the global Arista organization
* Author white papers on technology and product
* Travel expectations is approximately 15-30%
Qualifications
* BS/CS/CE Business or Technical degree required; MBA/MS degree a strong plus
* Network Industry Certification preferred (e.g. CCIE (R&S), JNCIE, ACE-5,6,7)
* You possess a minimum of 5+ years of L2/L3 networking design and implementation experience with a focus on Data Center, Campus, and WIFI solutions
* Strong presentation and selling skills including communication of complex technical material
* Solid understanding and knowledge of how to build successful relationships between an equipment manufacturer and a customer base of executives, architects, engineers and operations teams
* Good interpersonal skills, customer relations skills, and problem management skills, with the ability to stay calm and professional under pressure while working to strict deadlines
* Experience creating technical material (slides, white papers, battle cards, solution guides, etc)
* You possess recent experience in leaf-spine architecture design.
* Demonstrated work experience as either a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre-Sales SE or Network Consulting Engineer preferred
* Expert knowledge in the following areas: Ethernet, RSTP/ MSTP, VLANs, IP Routing, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, eBGP, VxLAN, EVPN, Multicast, Spanning Tree, QoS
* Expert level knowledge of industry-standard CLI
* Previous experience building network automation using Python and Ansible HIGHLY desired.
* Strong writing skills and ability to create informative white papers on technology and products is highly desired

Additional Information
The new hire base pay for this role has a salary range of $117,000 to $175,000. Arista offers different pay ranges based on work location, so that we can offer consistent and competitive pay appropriate to the market. The actual base pay offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and work location. The pay range provided reflects base pay only and in addition certain roles may also be eligible for discretionary Arista bonuses and equity. Employees in Sales roles are eligible to participate in Arista's Sales Incentive Plan, which pays commissions calculated as a percentage of eligible sales. US-based employees are also entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, tax savings and income protection.
