    This job is a full-time (12-Month), benefited, FLSA-exempt position in the General Education Division that reports to the Dean of Education. Working primarily at our Lawrenceville Campus. Salary: not to exceed the budgeted amount of $61,360.00 per year. Schedule - 40-hours per week, on campus, at the Lawrenceville campus; Monday through Friday; May occasionally work at the Alpharetta Campus Minimum Qualifications (Job Code 10213 Category 1) Doctorate or Master's degree in discipline OR Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in discipline. Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the minimum qualifications, Experience in teaching college-level Psychology courses in two-year colleges or degree-granting technical colleges. Experience in the course and curriculum development, demonstrated flexibility with the diverse student population and learning styles; demonstrated experience with a variety of teaching strategies including the use of advanced instructional technologies. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, and the community. Ability to teach in the classroom. Proficient in written and oral communication. Demonstrated occupational competency. Must be computer literate with the ability to use common software programs. Some experience with online instruction a plus. Job Description Summary: Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Psychology courses at a Gwinnett Technical College. Develops program and syllabi, goals and objectives. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts. Duties/Responsibilities: Percentage of Time: Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited Mathematics courses. (Performed by all incumbents) * Delivers effective individualized programs of instruction to class members. * Ensures adherence to technical college and safety requirements in classrooms and labs by following established procedures. * Correctly assesses the educational needs and class progress of students. * Selects and obtains appropriate educational materials for courses. * Prepares reports on the current status of students in the program indicating whether performance is aligned with performance indicators, program goals and progress schedule. * Serves as mentor for adjunct faculty within program area. * Ensures consistency in syllabi, lesson plans, tests, and other appropriate materials. 10 Develops program and course outlines, goals and objectives. Qualifications: Qualifications for instructional positions include a minimum of three years' full-time work experience in the discipline taught and educational background specific to the courses/programs. Formal teaching certification is not required. Teaching positions in most Associate Degree programs require a Master's Degree in the field (or) a Master's Degree in a related field with at least 18 semester hours in the subject to be taught. INSTRUCTION * Provides instruction in the theory and practical applications of Welding and Joining Technology in accordance with academic state standards. * Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in Welding and Joining Technology. * Instructs courses in a classroom and lab environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry. * Instructs face-to-face, blended, or on-campus, as needed, in accordance with college faculty loads. * Prepare standardized course syllabi using the provided template. * Assesses student progress based on established course grading requirements; grades all coursework in a timely manner. * Utilizes current technology in the classroom and lab. * Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss student instructional programs and other issues. * Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate for the teaching discipline. * May be required to attend professional development training as required for specific classroom course delivery. * Selected candidates must be able to work morning or evening hours, Monday through Thursday. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Diploma in Welding and Joining Technology or related diploma/degree from an accredited institution. * Three (3) years out of the past seven (7) years of experience in welding and joining. * Must be able to pass the AWS welding test; some locations will require an additional pipe welding test. * Valid driver's license. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE * Associate degree in Welding & Joining Technology or related field from an accredited institution. * AWS or related welding and joining certifications. * Directly related teaching experience at the post-secondary level. * Online teaching experience. PAY & BENEFITS * $27.00 per contact hour. * All adjunct positions are part-time, temporary positions offered on a per-semester basis based on the needs of the college. * Adjunct positions do not include benefits or promises of future full-time employment. * All courses are face-to-face unless otherwise indicated.
