May also serve as a lead worker providing training to lower level staff. JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: Manages and coordinates the maintenance and/or construction activities of an area. Oversees the plans, designs, costs, and coordinates new transportation construction and/or maintenance activities in the absence of the Area Manager. Reviews technical documents and plans; able to supervise work of contractors and DOT personnel to insure compliance with design specifications, engineering standards, and environmental regulations. Inspects the state route system for needed maintenance and repairs, and assigns work activities to appropriate crews. Coordinates emergency response efforts for situations affecting the state route system. Ensures the completion of required documents, forms and reports. Evaluates personnel performance and provides feedback and counseling for professional growth. Administers and promotes the agency's safety and preventive maintenance programs. Maintains a positive working relationship with the traveling public. Uses appropriate procurement procedures for materials, supplies, and resources needed for the day to day operation of and area. May also oversee and manage the operation and maintenance of rest area facilities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Minimum Qualifications. Assist the Pension Manager in preparing the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). Prepare initial draft of Letter of Transmittal and Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) for the Pension Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), as well as work with auditors to complete the Pension ACFR. Reconciles general ledger accounts for the pension fund. Prepares and maintains various schedules necessary for conducting the annual audit of the pension plan. Proficient in using various Microsoft Office products, including word process, spreadsheets, and databases, as well as other accounting/financial software or other software programs required to perform job duties. Maintain a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws/regulations and accounting standards; maintain an awareness of new trends and advances in the profession; read professional literature; attend workshops and training sessions as appropriate. Obtain certification in the Georgia Association of Public Plan Trustees (GAPPT) within three years of employment. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS Performs other related duties as required.
