Job Description: With limited to moderate supervision, and with extensive knowledge, the position is responsible for performing high level specialized tasks with increasingly difficult responsibilities in support of the following areas: mailroom operations, records management, printing/fulfillment, copy machine servicing, building safety, shipping and receiving, building/grounds maintenance, and courier service. Must work at an independent level to perform the daily operations of and have extensive working knowledge of building operations, mailroom operations, equipment knowledge, and extensive understanding of all the related technical systems. Perform quality control review processes defined by internal and external Regulatory Compliance guidelines pertaining to the printing and mailing of documents. Participates in the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for obtaining service and fulfilment contracts. Acts as the subject matter expert for the areas of responsibility. The material herein is subject to change. Job Responsibilities: The following examples are illustrative of the essential functions identified for this class title. Performs daily mailroom operations. * Opens, sorts, time stamps and delivers incoming mail to Agency divisions within specified times. * Uses PC based automated postage and sealing machinery to prepare outbound mail for receipt by third party couriers and USPS. * Ensure accurate cost allocation data is gathered and posted to files and data sheets. * Performs shipping responsibilities via various forms of technology systems and outside companies, i.e., Internet, UPS, FED EX, and other packages as required. * Understand shipping "packaging" requirements for outbound items and either package as needed or make recommendations of process and supplies. * Receives and accounts for all materials and supplies delivered to the Agency. Ensure goods are properly accounted and forward information and documentation to the appropriate department. Operates Agency printing/fulfillment operations. * Operates PC/LAN based automated printing and fulfillment equipment to processes scheduled print jobs for mailing within specified time commitments, as needed. * Monitors and performs maintenance on PC/LAN based automated printing/fulfillment equipment, as needed. * Maintain Regulatory compliance records and practices for document fulfillment. * Maintain Service requirements and supplies through equipment provider for the postage machine and automated printing system. Coordinates Copy Machine Service. * Maintains and services copy machines, as necessary. * Ensure that related copier supply stock is maintained at adequate levels. * Ensure that monthly usage readings are completed, posted to appropriate spreadsheets, and recorded according to established guidelines. * Perform in-house service and service requests to provider when required. Performs routine building and grounds maintenance services. * Performs various maintenance services such as replacing lights, cleaning up accidental spills/accumulations of debris, minor repairs of building structure and or furniture. * Perform light cleaning duties, move, and relocate GSFC staff, office furniture and equipment. * Ensures agency vehicles are serviced and maintained. * Maintains vehicle check out logs. * Perform a variety of minor repairs and tasks such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, installing paper towel dispensers, installing projectors, and general preventative maintenance on equipment. * Perform minor inspections of work performed or general building conditions under the direction of the Facility Manager. * Declutter worksite to include hauling debris and trash to the dumpster, ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are stored properly. Monitors and maintains safety regulations. * Checks building for fire, water, electrical and other safety hazards. * Reports any maintenance problem such as water leakage, etc. * Monitors and check and document, fire extinguishers on quarterly basis. * Reports all vandalism or suspicious vandalism to supervisor. * Reports to supervisor all accidents and/or injuries involving tenants, employees and/or customers at the time of the incident. * Performs checks and maintains log of building condition for weather damage. * Identifies safe evacuation areas within the building. * Coordinates and documents fire drills. * Be involved in the planning, coordination, and implementation of drills, checks, and inspections for all compliance items. Coordinates the records management activities. * Schedules and coordinates the retrieval and replacement of "records" cartons as requested by internal customers. * Completes all paperwork in accordance with the offsite storage vendor's criteria for new cartons and cartons for destruction. * Monitors vendor reports of carton activity, removal, and destruction as per the established retention schedules. * Maintains the "records" classification and retention periods for each department. * When required, be able to retrieve cartons from offsite records storage facilities. Continued training and professional development * Attend and participate in in-house training, skills, and development training programs, as required and directed. * Attend and complete CPR Training and appropriate training required by the Authority. * Keep abreast of department, State, and other regulatory agency guidelines as it relates to safety, equipment, and machine maintenance, etc. * Attend training at State provided classes for related duties within the daily areas of responsibility Maintains consistent, high quality, customer-focused orientation when conducting business and providing services. * Communicates with customers and obtains all required information necessary to determine and address their specific needs and problems, tactfully explains why, if a service cannot be provided. * Provides clear, accurate information; explains procedures or materials or provides supplemental information; anticipates problems and questions. * Treats customers with respect, courtesy, and tact. * Process Building Services "workflow" requests when received. * Participates in the RFP process for obtaining service and fulfilment contracts. * Works with and monitors third party contractors and vendors. Maintains building security practices and measures. * Perform routine checks of all grounds, signs, lighting, and doors. * Repairs, replacing, reports signs, doors and or locking mechanism requiring attention. * Creates "photo id" badges for new employees and employee replacement badges. * Manage and maintain the photo database. * Maintain the card access system, cards, schedules and requested reports. * Monitor and when required, request service on external security lighting. * Watch for unusual activity and or unknown people and handle accordingly. Minimum Qualifications: The following standards express the minimum background of education and experience as evidence of an applicant's ability to qualify for this class title. Any combination of education and experience, if evaluated as equivalent, may qualify an applicant for a position within this class. * Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; or three (3) years of experience in engineering, maintenance, renovation, and construction of facilities. * Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis. * Intermediate level knowledge and skill with Microsoft PC products. * Ability to differentiate between colors. * Ability to work weekends, day, evening, and morning shifts. * A valid GA driver's license. * Ability to lift and work with at least 50 lbs. * Ability to work independently in absence of direct supervision; analyze situations accurately and take effective actions; communicate effectively orally and in writing. * Comfort with heights as necessary. Preferred Qualifications: * More than 4 years of comprehensive work experience in an automated mailroom, facilities environment, or related field. * Mailroom/Facilities Management experience in a professional business environment which involved technology skills related to automated mail, copier, data storage and/or inventory control tasks. * Previous work experience in a safety-monitoring environment or in a related safety field. Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; or three (3) years of experience in engineering, maintenance, renovation, and construction of facilities.     GENERAL NATURE OF WORK The purpose of this classification is to operate equipment and perform manual work functions associated with construction, repair, and maintenance of the City\'s Stormwater system. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned. * Performs manual work functions associated with Stormwater system construction, maintenance and repair; maintains, cleans, builds and\/or repairs catch basins and storm drains; repairs pipeline breaks and leaks; cleans tension ponds; cuts and pours concrete and asphalt; installs pipe; digs holes or trenches; replaces sidewalks and curbs; shovels materials; lifts and moves heavy materials. * Transports, loads and unloads various equipment and materials used in assigned projects. * Performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment and tools in good working condition; inspects equipment; checks fluid levels; replaces fluids; greases equipment; washes and cleans equipment; cleans shop and work areas; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment. * Adheres to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals; flags and directs traffic and places markers, signs and cones around project\/work site to ensure safety of crew and the traveling public; wears protective gear. * Prepares, types, proofreads, and\/or completes various forms, reports, work reports, vehicle inspection reports, lists, directories, logs, notices, charts, graphs, spreadsheets, or other documents. * Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, work orders, policies, procedures, manuals, handbooks, directories, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, proofreads, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate. * Communicates with supervisor, crew members, other Town employees, and the public as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, resolve problems, or give\/receive advice\/direction. * Operates a variety of equipment, machinery and tools used in Stormwater system construction, maintenance and repair, including a dump truck, trailer, back hoe, boring machine, tamp, tapping machine, pipe horn, pipe saw, mower, jackhammer, shovel, rakes, pick axe, mechanical tools or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS Performs other street and rights of way maintenance duties as needed. May perform lead guidance and direction to other crew members as assigned. Mathematical Aptitude: Requires the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. May include counting, recording of counts, and basic measuring. Functional Reasoning: Requires the ability to apply principles of rational systems; to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form; and to exercise independent judgment to adopt or modify methods and standards to meet variations in assigned objectives. RequirementsMININUM QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or GED; supplemented by six (6) months of experience in equipment operation, construction or maintenance work, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial Driver\'s License (CDL) including appropriate endorsement(s). Must possess and maintain the following certifications: Flagging, Confined Space, CPR, and Erosion and Sediment. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to performing preventive and corrective maintenance on fleet support equipment, operating equipment, and performing additional tasks as assigned. Job Related Requirements Work Schedule : Monday Thru Friday 2:30PM - 11:00PM May be required to work on religious holidays. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Must work cooperatively with others. When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by Transit Maintenance Plan and ACC's safe driving policy. Adherence to pathogen transmission prevention procedures and the utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE) to reduce/eliminate exposure to pathogens and chemicals is required. Emergency Position This position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, fire or other forced evacuations or as determined by the Manager. High school diploma or equivalent and six months of transit bus servicing and detailing equipment or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must possess or be able to obtain a Class B Georgia Commercial Driver's License with passenger endorsement within 6 months of hire date. The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Fuels all transit buses, specialized handicap vans, and support vehicles daily; drains air tanks, checks and adds fluids and oil, and checks tire pressure, battery water level. Cleans transit vehicles' seats, driver's area, fare boxes, windows, etc.; sweeps and mops interior of vehicles. Drives vehicles through bus wash; washes wheels, lower panels, fender wells, and air-conditioning grills by hand. Answers requests for road call assistance and performs road calls immediately in the event of vehicle failures, including buses of all types, cars, trucks, and vans in order to decrease repair disruptions and increase repair productivity. Cleans and maintains the Multimodal Center and Operations and Maintenance facility on a pre-set hourly interval in compliance with the special procedures that have been developed by management to reduce the transmission of viral and bacterial infections. Disperses sanitizing agents from an electro-static sprayer on a scheduled interval and as needed during potential pathogen exposures while utilizing all of the proper PPE to protect themselves from pathogen and chemical exposure. Maintains a clean work area; cleans maintenance shop area, services area, and grounds; sweeps and cleans bays, rinses floors and uses scrubbing machine as needed. Assists Transit Vehicle Technicians with vehicle diagnostics and repairs as needed. Performs vehicle road calls, delivering vehicles safely back to transit garage. Performs bi-annual parts inventory count and assist parts department with stocking, parts pick up, and delivery as needed. Drives vehicles into garage bays to be serviced or repaired. Performs a detailed cleaning on the interior and exterior of all department vehicles; steam cleans engines, radiators, battery terminals, and engine compartment door. Reports any defects found when servicing vehicles to supervisor. Closes up service island, secures shop doors, dispatcher's office, and pedestrian gate; turns off lights, and properly shuts down air-conditioning and all other equipment. Repairs tires, regrooves and changes tires as required. Performs preventive maintenance and necessary repairs on bus washer, commercial vacuum system, street sweeper, floor scrubber, parts washer, tire maintenance equipment, commercial pressure washer, generator, backpack blower, shop air dryer, hydraulic platform trailer and fuel tank testing systems Operates a 2.5 ton compactor sanitation truck to remove waste from all of the bus stops in Athens Clarke County. Performs inspections and light maintenance of the sanitation truck. Completes trash can receptacle service and truck maintenance documentation in order to track the maintenance & services completed. Tows a trailer and equipment to all bus stops within the county to perform steam pressure washing of each stop on a scheduled interval. Maintains all pressure washing equipment which entails scheduled services, fluid checks, and light maintenance on the truck, trailer, pressure washer and detergent container. Documents each bus stop serviced and the maintenance required to keep the pressure washing equipment in a state of good repair. Assists in training new employees. Maintains inventory of janitorial and vehicle cleaning supplies. May be required to assist with security as necessary. Assigns task to community service workers and provide them with supervision. Reports community service worker hours completed and individual productivity status to probation officers. Repairs bus stop seating and signage. Performs other related duties as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the Transit Department as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Transit Maintenance Worker I.
