    Physician - Board Certified - Full Time - WCGRH The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these. As Georgia's public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities, and hospital services. DBHDD main office is located in downtown Atlanta. This position is located at: West Central Georgia Regional Hospital (WCGRH) Located at 3000 Schatulga Road, Columbus Georgia. WCGRH has inpatient treatment units for Adult Mental Health and Forensic care. The hospital can serve 154 Forensic and 40 Adult Mental Health patients for a total of 194 beds at any point in time. The hospital employs approximately 600 staff members. Job Description Job Title: Physician - Board Certified Job Type: Full-time Salary: $225,000 Job Summary: Under general supervision, provides comprehensive medical services by examining patients, diagnosing conditions and providing treatments. Directs nurses, aides and others in the care and treatment of patients. * Supervising staff including physician assistants and nurse practitioners * Refers patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary * Advises patients on health care including health promotion, disease, illness and accident prevention. * Coordinates work with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists and other health care providers. * Directs and coordinates activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff. * Examines patients and take their histories, order laboratory tests, X-rays and other diagnostic procedures and consult with other medical practitioners to evaluate patients' physical and mental health. * Prescribes or administers treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury. * In the EMR system, completes all orders and documents all evaluations, notes treatment, and plans within prescribed time frames and according to established guidelines. * Consults with referring M.D. as needed. * Provides emergency medical care. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Medical degree recognized by the Georgia Composite Medical Board (GCMB) AND licensure or license-eligible to practice medicine at a state institution or in the state of Georgia as provided by state law. The incumbent is directly supervised by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Primary Care. * FUNCTIONS OR SCOPES OF PRACTICE: Clinical Responsibilities: * Physician's primary responsibility is to provide primary care services for a panel of 1250 patients. Physician will perform exams according to performance measure guidelines and procedures and dictate/type notes according to policy/procedure. Physician reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). Other duties may include screening outpatient to determine need for further care, evaluating unscheduled patients under the physician's care, ordering diagnostic studies, carrying out health promotion and disease prevention activities, initiating and expediting requests for consultations and scheduling special tests and studies. * Physician may be on rotation to do extended hours once per month or less. Administrative Responsibilities: * Adheres to operational policies and procedures for the primary care team, established by the primary care service line manager. * Facilitates liaisons with other health care programs in order to effectively coordinate service. * Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders and encounters for all patients. * Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g. entering diagnostic and procedure codes). * Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Service Line Manager (or designee) and facility Director. Attends regular Service Line Staff meetings, Clinic Team meetings and complies with Primary Care Service Line peer review procedures. * Works effectively with team members to facilitate care including timely completion of medical forms, caring responses to patient complaints and other administrative duties. * Maintains current BLS certification and performs completion of mandatory educational classes.
