The Georgia Department of Community Affairs (DCA) is a state organization dedicated to partnering with communities to help create a climate of success for Georgia's families and businesses. Overview of Job:
Georgia Department of Community Affairs is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to perform professional accounting functions, including accounts receivable, general ledger, asset management, account reconciliation, cash management and financial reporting. Duties include but are not limited to: independently reviewing/approving financial transactions, processing complex receivables, performing reconciliations, developing internal financial reports, and completing and analyzing financial reports to determine fiscal integrity and compliance with principles, standards, guidelines, policies and procedures. Maintains accounting file information and performs other duties as assigned. Provides customer service and support for the operations and financial reporting unit.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of professionalaccounting experience
OR
Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of professional accounting experience
OR
Bachelor's degree in a business curriculum which included completion of introductory and intermediateaccounting sequence from an accredited college or university AND three (3) years of professional accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in governmental accounting
Completion of the State Financial Management Certificate Program
Experience utilizing the PeopleSoft application
Experience using Workday
Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access)
Strong organizational skills
Strong writing skills

WORKING CONDITIONS (TRAVEL, HOURS, ENVIRONMENT)
This position is currently designated as a hybrid (part in-office and part remote/Telework) position. Thisposition is full time (40 hours per week) and may require occasional overtime. Local periodic travel maybe required.
PHYSICAL / SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Work is principally stationary, but the person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc., and constantly operates a computer and other office equipment.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
Must be able to perform office-related duties.
Must be able to operate office equipment.
Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, tenants, and community agencies and other entities that provide services.

Assist with annual audit preparations.
Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance.
