    Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Schedule: Days Base Salary Range: $95,000-$112,000/year Entry Level (~Minimum): ~$95,000 Experienced (~10 years): ~$105,000 Highly Experienced (~15+ years): ~$112,000 Sign-On Bonus: Not offered Case-by-case Job Description A high-acuity perioperative service line in the Fort Walton Beach region is seeking an experienced Manager of Surgical Services to provide operational leadership, clinical oversight, and staff development across a fast-paced surgical department. This unit includes 10 main ORs and 2 CVOR suites , supporting approximately 25 surgical cases per day in a Level II trauma environment. The Manager oversees ~62 FTEs , ensuring high-quality care, regulatory compliance, and consistent surgical workflow. Key Responsibilities Provide 24/7 leadership for Surgical Services, ensuring safe, high-quality perioperative care. Oversee daily operations, including workflow optimization, staffing, scheduling, competencies, supplies, and equipment readiness. Ensure compliance with nursing standards, hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation guidelines. Foster effective interdisciplinary communication among surgeons, anesthesia, nursing, and support teams. Monitor and improve throughput, safety metrics, patient satisfaction, turnaround times, and overall departmental performance. Lead education, training, and competency development for nursing and ancillary staff. Partner with surgical and anesthesia leadership to improve efficiency, patient flow, and clinical outcomes. Participate in rounding; respond proactively to patient, staff, and operational needs. Support initiatives that enhance the overall patient and family experience. Qualifications Required: RN license (Florida or compact). BSN required (or in progress depending on facility standards). 3+ years of perioperative leadership experience (charge, coordinator, supervisor, or manager level). Strong understanding of OR workflow, staffing models, and regulatory requirements. Preferred: Master's degree (MSN, MHA, MBA). CNOR or ability to obtain within 1 year. Experience in CVOR and trauma environments. Proven track record of staff engagement and performance improvement. The department includes: 10 Main OR Suites 2 CVOR Rooms ~25 surgical cases per day Level II Trauma Center setting This role oversees approximately 62 FTEs and plays a key part in ensuring patient safety, throughput efficiency, regulatory readiness, and excellence in perioperative care. Key Responsibilities Provide 24/7 leadership and accountability for Surgical Services operations. Ensure safe, high-quality patient care through effective management of staffing, workflow, competencies, supplies, and equipment readiness. Maintain compliance with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and accreditation guidelines. Foster strong interdisciplinary communication among nursing, surgical teams, anesthesia, and ancillary departments. Monitor and improve OR throughput, patient safety metrics, patient satisfaction, and team performance. Develop education, training, and ongoing competency programs for perioperative nursing and support staff. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and hospital leadership to optimize OR efficiency, scheduling, and patient flow. Participate in patient and staff rounding; respond proactively to patient needs and concerns. Support initiatives that enhance the overall patient experience and promote a culture of professionalism and teamwork. Qualifications Required 3-5 years of perioperative leadership experience (OR Manager, Assistant Manager, Clinical Coordinator, or Charge RN). Active RN license (Florida or Compact). Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required or in progress; must be completed within 3 years of hire. BLS certification (within 30 days). ACLS certification (within 90 days). Prior experience in Operating Room nursing (circulating experience required; scrub experience preferred). Demonstrated knowledge of: AORN perioperative guidelines Surgical scheduling & throughput processes Sterile processing/instrumentation workflows Trauma and emergency surgical protocols Preferred Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field (MSN, MBA, MHA). CNOR certification or ability to obtain within 12 months. Experience in: Level I or Level II trauma perioperative settings CVOR/Cardiothoracic service line operations Managing OR block time & surgeon relations Proven success improving metrics such as: On-time starts Turnover time Staff engagement Patient safety indicators Strong skills in team building, communication, conflict resolution, and change management.
