    Medical Technician - Bradenton, FL Employment Type: Full-Time Schedule: Evenings & Nights | Rotating Weekends Compensation: Hourly Pay Range: $22.39 - $31.34 (based on experience) Job Description Overview An acute care hospital in Bradenton, Florida is seeking a dependable Medical Technician to support evening and night laboratory operations in a fast-paced clinical environment. This role requires strong independent judgment, broad laboratory competency, and comfort working autonomously across multiple lab sections to ensure accurate and timely patient results. Responsibilities Perform STAT and routine clinical laboratory testing in licensed technical areas Apply laboratory theory and critical thinking to deliver accurate, timely test results Maintain competency and scheduled coverage in Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology Perform specimen collection, processing, and referral testing as required Adhere to all laboratory procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements Support departmental goals related to service excellence, quality outcomes, and patient safety Collaborate effectively with clinical teams while maintaining the ability to work independently Additional Information Qualifications Required: Associate Degree in Medical Technology with formal laboratory training Active Florida Medical Technologist license Demonstrated competency in at least three laboratory areas Ability to work independently and cover all lab sections during assigned shifts Strong critical thinking skills and comfort working with minimal supervision Preferred: National certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP preferred) Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field 3+ years of hospital laboratory experience Blood Bank experience Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly compensation based on experience Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage 401(k) retirement plan with employer match Paid time off and paid family leave Tuition assistance and continuing education support Employee wellness, counseling, and financial planning resources Benefit eligibility may vary by employment status and location. This role supports high-volume hospital operations and requires strong technical expertise, independence, and the ability to work across multiple laboratory disciplines. This opportunity is ideal for experienced laboratory professionals who are comfortable working autonomously, value accuracy and efficiency, and want stable full-time employment in an acute care setting. Responsibilities Perform stat and routine clinical laboratory testing in licensed technical discipline areas. Apply laboratory medicine principles and independent judgment to ensure accurate, timely results. Follow established procedures and comply with regulatory and accreditation requirements. Maintain competency and licensure across Blood Bank, Chemistry, and Hematology as scheduled. Perform non-technical duties such as specimen collection, processing, and referral testing as needed.
