Key Responsibilities:
Apply biochemistry knowledge to projects involving DNA, RNA, enzymes, antibodies, and antigens, ensuring effective integration of synthetic chemistry with biochemical processes.
Utilize experimental design software, such as Design Expert, to plan and optimize experiments.
Engage in formulation chemistry, developing and testing chemical formulations for various applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on diverse projects, adapting to different research needs and contributing biochemistry expertise.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of experimental procedures, results, and analyses.

Requirements

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position performs complex chemical and routine biological analyses on drinking water, surface water, wastewater, and solid samples using advanced equipment and techniques. Performs on a level to ensure compliance with state and federal laboratory certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis of water samples utilizing standard and advanced laboratory equipment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. Technical knowledge and performance of approved analytical testing procedures, acceptable precision and accuracy levels, required holding and turn-around times and established quality control limits.
2. Assists and performs evaluations of existing methods and the development of methods and standard operating procedures. Properly performs analysis to maintain state, federal certification and NELAP accreditation
3. Responsible for maintaining and accurately documenting chemical and analytical supplies.
4. Performs preventive maintenance and non-routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and instruments. Maintains a clean and controlled work area.
5. Maintains Quality Control files on a daily basis and does mathematical calculations including data review and data entry to laboratory reporting system.
6. Participates in all safety and security protocols. Attends safety and security meetings.
7. Employees assigned to this position are classified as essential personnel. Essential personnel is required to report to work when scheduled during departmental and/or emergency situations including, but not limited to, extended periods of inclement weather when travel may be difficult. This position is essential because, in the absence of sufficient personnel, the plant cannot operate safely.

This position does not regularly provide work leadership or full personnel management to any employees.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or a related science.
EXPERIENCE
One year of work experience in a related field is required.

Valid Texas driver's license. State certification in water or wastewater desired. Laboratory Analyst Certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE

Onsite Chemist
As an Onsite Chemist you will be responsible for sorting and preparing hazardous and nonhazardous materials for shipment from the customer's site. This role will ensure material compatibility and adhere to all safety processes for each job and lab packing service provided to the customer.
Essential Functions & Requirements:
* Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
* Segregates and characterizes chemicals by hazard class and packs compatible materials into appropriate containers to prepare them for transport; completes required documentation per job, conducting facility inspections as needed
* Collects hazardous and nonhazardous materials from various onsite locations and transports via pushcart or Company van to waste collection areas
* Follows proper placarding and load segregation requirements when loading hazardous materials
* Effectively communicates important information to customer and maintains a productive and positive relationship with key customer contacts
* Maintains a logbook of waste stored within the waste storage area at customer site
* Maintains good housekeeping in storage areas and advises relevant parties when additional supplies are needed
* Provides direction to Field Technicians/Drivers while onsite assisting with waste collection

Education:
* High school diploma or equivalent (required)
* Bachelor's degree within a science-related discipline (preferred)
Experience:
* 2+ years of experience in lab packing or an environmental waste role (preferred)

Field Chemist
As a Field Chemist you will be responsible for sorting and transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials and waste, always ensuring compatibility and safety in all processes for each service provided to customers.
Essential Functions & Requirements:
* Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
* Assists in the segregation of chemicals by hazard class and packs compatible materials in appropriate containers and prepares for transportation; completes necessary paperwork for each job

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Completing field work, including aquatic resource delineation surveys including seagrass and oyster surveys, terrestrial habitat surveys, topographic and bathymetric surveys, drone photogrammetry surveys, surface water and sediment sampling, threatened and endangered species surveys, environmental constraints surveys, etc.
Collecting field data, including the use of GPS equipment and other survey technologies, and completing reporting to document field results.
Helping to prepare permit applications for projects mainly in Texas, Louisiana, and Florida, under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act and Sections 401 and 404 of the Clean Water Act.
Support project teams with development of various technical reports such as threatened and endangered species assessments, biological assessments, sensitive resource reports, and others typically associated with environmental reviews under the National Environmental Policy Act.
Helping to prepare other federal, state, and local permit applications and supporting documents, which may include technical studies, documenting field work and interpreting collected data.
Work collaboratively with project teams to satisfy client and agency requirements through planning, design, permitting and construction of gulf coast development and restoration projects.
What Are We Looking For?
Ideal candidates will have the following:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., environmental planning or policy, environmental science, marine science or biology, ecology and conservation biology, wildlife or fisheries management)
One to 3 years of experience in environmental surveying, natural resource management, ecological services, environmental consulting, regulatory compliance, technical writing, or similar with particular emphasis on gulf coast resources
Some experience with interpreting field data to assess project impacts and applying results to the completion of permitting applications
Familiarity with environmental regulations in Texas, Louisiana, and Florida, including the preparation of Section 10 and Section 401/404 permit applications (e.g., Individual Permits, Nationwide Permit Program Pre-construction Notifications, Regional General Permits, etc.)
Ability to travel mainly within the Gulf Coast with the potential for occasional out-of-state travel
